Perpetually, there’s always a list of exceptional, rising bands out there that manage to deliver material that’s particularly blasphemous and exceedingly nasty in virtually every way as they slowly work their way through the underground. Since their first full-length album six years ago, it has been undeniable that Eggs of Gomorrh belongs on that very list without so much as a second thought. They’ve become a real name to know in the underground with their catalog growing slowly, never once does the Swiss trio ever compromise in theme, power, or unyielding fury. They keep raising the bar every few years with a new offering, but it has got to be with their sophomore full-length record that they’re at the best yet.

The very reputation of this band should be enough for most of us at this point even despite the fact that there are far more bands throughout the underground that have managed to dish out more releases in a much shorter time. But, it’s been clear from the beginning that Eggs of Gomorrh has never been about doing the most in a short amount of time, but, rather, creating a visceral, horrifying experience that is not to leave the minds of the listener any time soon. With a title like “Wombspreader”, it’s not hard to see that they definitely succeeded in that goal yet again with the ten tracks on display here arguably the band’s most potent and vicious to date with more than plenty of riffs abound in every moment, the violence is more calculated than ever, and the very nature of the album itself simply cannot be contained or embodied in just ten tracks that really give us the perfect definition as to what we can come to expect from Eggs of Gomorrh now and going forward. There’s nothing simple about this effort other than the single-minded intent from the band to make “Wombspreader” a true terror upon everything that it good in this world as the trio seeks to sodomize it in every way possible, and very few are able to deliver it in such efficiency and outward horror as what we see here. It truly brings forward just how apt this band is at their unforgiving craft in virtually every regard, and I really don’t think we could’ve expected anything less.

There will always be names throughout the underground that must have respect put on their names with a high level of interest whenever there’s a new effort coming around from one of them, and it certainly has to be with this horrific creation that Eggs of Gomorrh cements their own placement on such a list if they hadn’t achieved it already. All that was brought to the table for “Wombspreader” is what this particularly vulgar vein of the underground is constantly craving for in all of its depravity, and it’s with the passage of time that Eggs of Gomorrh is becoming a more and more reliable source for such madness.
