Inhuman Condition – Fearsick

The very modern landscape of death metal has been shaped by legends of the sound for decades now. Whether they were part of bands that are no longer together or still keeping the original flavors alive through veteran acts that show no signs of slowing down, it’s hard to make the argument that we’re not living in a true golden age for the style. It’s only a matter of time before we were to start seeing many of the real shakers of the style, the masters of their instruments and craft, starting to branch out and find others of their ilk to create new forms of terror that propel the style forward while still keeping that original sound thriving in exemplary fashion. Effortlessly, one of the more intriguing names to bring such a concept to full glory in recent years has to be Inhuman Condition which has only been in existence just two years, yet it has already primed itself as a premier name to know in the vast realm of up-and-coming death metal.

Just to look at the three men who crafted this record should be more than enough for anyone to come to the conclusion that this is not a name that deserves any shred of doubt or skepticism for what they have done for the scene in some form or another over their many years of excellence, and it has already borne tremendous fruit! Inhuman Condition’s debut album just last year was something that turn many heads throughout the scene with great reason, but it’s in every possible way that with the swift follow-up that is “Fearsick” that I can’t help but feel as though we have what many will call amongst the need-to-know albums in all of death metal that this year will throw our way. An absolute deluge of master class death metal the likes of which we’re treated to on only the rarest of occasions, it’s within the nine tracks in this sophomore effort that Inhuman Condition truly taps into their potential with the trio truly moving as one, cohesive and formidable unit that chugs in every given moment and delivers a punch that is nothing to look down upon with its power matching the infectious melodies that permeate the very entirety of the record without exception. This is what legends are made out of with each and every factor that went into “Fearsick” showing us as clear as day that this is not a band that is to be taken lightly, for it’s in the very short time between its predecessor and now that Inhuman Condition has already evolved itself in an act worthy of headlining any given metal festival that might be out there with the ravenous underground surely to take to this band even more so as their talent becomes all the more apparent and its seductive nastiness draws us in even further down to the moldiest, corpse-ridden depths.

It’s been a good long while since death metal has seen a band like this come around, and I don’t think it’ll be long before the very name of Inhuman Condition is considered a household, must-be-hard name for anyone who finds themselves wandering the very crypts, caverns, and cemeteries that death metal calls home. With all that was presented to us with the very whole of “Fearsick”, I would be personally offended if anyone would dare insinuate that it missed the mark in any capacity.

“Fearsick” releases on July 15th!
