It can often feel as though the very humble levels of the doom underground can lead to only one of two paths: (1) mind-blowing talent that’s destined for a meteoric rise, or (2) creations that never climbed the ladder of interest whether it be intentional or simply due to the material not finding the right circles. Whenever I come upon a new act from that particular corner of doom, it always feels like a toss-up since none of us have the gift of foresight to see what’ll happen to the name in time. Stumbling upon the brand new name of Endonomos, however, I can’t help but have a gut feeling that this act will be on the rise before we know it.

While some may tragically dismiss this debut effort from the onset simply due to a lack of color and eye-catching allure in the cover art, the grandeur and magnificence presence that’s portrayed on that very cover is as good a representation of Endonomos as we could hope for in the visual medium at this point. Many acts throughout the realm of doom that are slowly coming out of the woodwork can often struggle to achieve such a feat or even flounder when it comes to delivering it in a proper, meaningful form that actually leaves an impact on the listener. Still, it’s for the six tracks from this eponymous creation that one cannot but be compelled to say that Endonomos didn’t struggle to bring these flavors to life in gorgeous fashion. Much like a great lumbering beast whose very steps crack the very skin of the earth asunder in such a fashion that cannot be seen as anything less than cataclysmic in its power and vicious in its levels of intoxication, Endonomos upholds a wondrous vision for the absolute entirety of its debut from its massive riffage to atmospheric passages that make for a glorious contrast to really give a display of ultimate power and talent that come together to make this self-titled work something that is to be enjoyed slowly and wholly much like an exquisitely prepared meal.

It all comes together in one stunning creation the likes of which could only ever be forged in the depths of the underground with immensely few acts able to provide such an experience even after being in the game for years, yet it’s on the debut creation that Endonomos was able to achieve such a thing in spectacular detail. If this is just the first step for this band, then I can only imagine that the very future will see the name of Endonomos regularly should it pursue and live up to the expectations that were laid forth excellently in this marvel of a record.
