Legendarium – Death’s Hand In Yours

Some bands seem to work on a schedule that can very well be considered inhuman. It tends to be that many of us would expect any band to have years between efforts with maybe an EP in the gap or some sort of release be it a live album, demo, acoustic renditions, or anything of the sort, but some simply refuse to sit in one spot for long. It has been clear for a few years now that Legendarium works at a pace faster than most given that it has been once every two years thus far that we have heard from the band, but it was this year that they refused such a trend to continue with the arrival of their second full-length album they will deliver this year. And, much like every subsequent creation since their debut, it must be said that the act just keeps getting better.

While there is clearly an argument to be made that this new creation is likely but a spiritual follow-up to the album that Legendarium gave us earlier in the year, “Under the Spell of Destruction”, and there might be some credence to that in fleeting forms, but it’s the whole of “Death’s Hand In Yours” that we get a creation that is more than competent to stand tall on its own feet without needing the support of anything that has come before it. Boasting the central core of heavy metal with an eclectic group of influences that provides further intrigue that Legendarium has become known for, the ten tracks that are on display here certainly follow many of the same habits and stylistic choices that then band has made in the past with this as the band’s fourth full-length album only cementing the band’s undeniable rise. Even so, it’s clear that there is a meaner and heavier approach to “Death’s Hand In Yours” that previous efforts have only dabbled in relatively with each track that’s presented to us here feeling more fleshed out in their intensity while the riffs are naught but gripping in their destruction with even harsher vocals making their presence more than known to really add a special edge of viciousness to Legendarium’s sound. As if the band needed to become even more eclectic in order to make themselves stand out in a scene that has been very much in need of an act such as this.

Time has been nothing but kind to Legendarium since its humble beginnings, and it’s everything that has been brought forth to bring “Death’s Hand In Yours” to our ears that should stand as more than enough proof of that in every regard. Eclectic efforts are hard to find in the world of heavy metal in any capacity with Legendarium only cementing this fact with this album: they are here to do what others cannot, and they’ve become exceedingly deadly at it!
