Given the breadth and density that the world of death metal has achieved many times over at this point decades after its inception, it’s no surprise anymore to come across a new burgeoning name that manages to throw around its own form of death metal that manages to catch the interest of people here and there. However, it’s another thing altogether to put forth a creation that doesn’t just intrigue but delivers at damn near every turn without so much as a fumble at any point. Scattered across the dense underground are bands that are more than capable of bringing forth excellence right from the get-go with only the astute and the lucky able to bask in their glory. With their debut demo getting ready to make impact, I consider myself very fortunate to have found myself before the new behemoth that is Décryptal.

Already having members that are experienced elsewhere, Décryptal already had a leg up compared to many other acts that we can find on the bottom-most levels of the death metal underworld, but experience doesn’t immediately result in a successful offensive upon the soul and body like truly horrid death metal should be capable of. “Sabazios Culte” has but five tracks to call its own for Décryptal to make an impression with, yet it’s any one of them that could pass for a more than worthy single to lure people into the depths of what this quartet is able to summon. This is proper death metal whose own flesh is dripping off its bones and chunky in the best possible way as it’s at every turn that Décryptal accomplishes an old-school flair with the modern competency that’s necessary for any new name to make a meteoric rise through the underground right out of the gate with every subsequent track enabling the listener to be pulverized in exquisite fashion while never once disappointing us. Whether it’s an untouchable sense around massive riffs or a tone that is downright homicidal in even its calmest moments, this is a golden find when it comes to demos in the ocean of others that either doesn’t impress whatsoever or never live up to the potential of the band that crafted them.

“Sabazios Culte” shows us that Décryptal has put their best possible foot forward that is nigh on promising for those that are lucky enough to come before what Décryptal has delivered here with the future truly their’s for the taking should they but take the plunge and truly embrace the foundation that’s been put forth here. The jury is still more than out on whether or not Décryptal is a name that we will be returning to time after time with what’s been done here, but “Sabazios Culte” has made damn sure that I will be keeping an eye on this act is this debut has any excellence to glean from. And it most certainly does!
