Triumpher – Storming the Walls

It is a diffcult thing in today’s current climate to find new metal out there in that classic vein where the ensuing material is a proper representation of what the style is able to bring to the table without being a pale visage of what’s really possible. We have been lucky enough to be shown the grace of many new names in recent years with Sumerlands, Gatekeeper, and Visigoth just a handful of names that have done the style supreme justice, and there is always room for more. With their impressive debut album, Triumpher has made an entrance the likes of which simply cannot be denied.

When either style is well done, both power and heavy metal do not need much more in order to become massive creations in their own right that can catch the attention of many who find themselves basking before such glory. But it is when an act manages to come around that does far more than achieve the bare minimum of quality that we tend to be gifted a performance that warrants far more than the mere cock of an eyebrow. To find yourself before all that Triumpher has put together for their debut album, “Storming the Walls”, is to find yourself before an undeniable stroke of excellence for both everyone involved and the scene at large. Ten utterly massive tracks that manage to bring forth a somewhat progressive edge to add even more intrigue upon the sheer majesty that’s on full display here, it would be callous of anyone to even dare claim that Triumpher has done anything less than wildly succeed for their entrance into the scene. Overflowing with ripping solos, intoxicating passages, glorious battle, and more than enough power to capture the imagination and the attention of any who come into the experience, “Storming the Walls” instantly makes Triumpher a name to pay attention to for all that has been accomplished here.

This is a work that does far more than simply reflect its influences back upon the listener, but, rather, takes them in great care and reverence to deliver something that feels new, fresh, and wildly invigorating in damn near every possible way. “Storming the Walls” is a surprise from every angle as not only does it provide us frequentors of this style another helping of glory to bask in, but it gives us more than enough hope that every style at play here has a bright future so long as bands like Triumpher keep coming around.
