Allfather – A Violent Truth

For some time now, Allfather’s next piece was quite highly on my anticipated albums list given how much time I still find myself within their last album, “And All Will Be Desolation”. Upon seeing the news of their new record, “A Violent Truth”, I was very keen to see where the band was going to take their sound next given how there really hasn’t quite been any other band that I’ve come across over the years that has sounded quite like them. Aftering finally getting my teeth into the record (after not realizing it had been sitting in my inbox for two months (whoops)), I am more than confident in saying that this record is sure to stand as another immense victory for Allfather.

An album that brings to life much of a band’s views is incredibly common for obvious reasons, but one that manages to bring it to life in such a form that it permates every possible facet of the creation such that the very aggression of the record is fueled by the inspiration and even the simplest of factors contribute to the themes at large is to witness a truly fleshed-out creation taken to the fullest. For Allfather, they’ve always been all or nothing, and that goes doubly so for all that they’ve brought to the table to make “A Violent Truth” the absolute whirlwind of bone, fury, and riffs that it is. Six tracks are all that adorn this new creation, but it is in that relatively short span that Allfather puts forth another massively explosive performance that leaves nothing on the table, no surface left uncovered in blood, and no body spared their fury. The very essence of what’s been summoned forth for “A Violent Truth” drags the listener into an undeniable massacre that is as punishing as it is capturing for all that it dares to bring to life with its grand levels of intoxication only able to be matched by Allfather’s supreme aggression that has carried them far throughout their career, yet it is here that we see it come to its most tempered form yet. Born out of the personal hell of the pandemic that wracked the world with only their rage to keep them focused on the goal in sight, this new vision from Allfather is as political as it has ever been with the cataclysmic anger the driving force of a sound that has been something to behold in the world of metal for some time now with this effort but the latest onslaught that is not to be trifled with.

Works of this kind that are fueled by true contempt for the horrors of our modern world that happen under our nose while we turn a blind eye to others across the world are far from uncommon in the modern climate of metal and its contemporary styles, but incredibly few are able to come even close to what Allfather has managed to build up after these years. An effort that’s as focused in its singular goal as it is unmitigated in its scope of scorched earth, “A Violent Truth” is an eye-opener in more ways than one that is sure to be on the lips of many as we move forward.
