I do not have to be the one to tell you how lucky we are to find ourselves in the modern digital age of music with there being more quality that ever as it is easier to find than in decades past. Sure, there are plenty of downsides that come with it but the positives are overwhelming, in my opinion, especially when it comes to the likes of styles like heavy psych. There are countless namds in the modern landscape that are making the scene a true beauty from top to bottom with there always being something new for us to absorb and fall in love with. It has been almost four years since we last heard from Faerie Ring, and it’s with this brand new opus that we’re reminded just why we need to keep an incredibly sharp eye on them and all that they do.

There are more than plenty of bands out there that dare to keep the sound engaging, thrilling, and unpredictable amongst all the fuzz, riffs, and damn good times that are to be had as we’re treated from one band to the next. From day one, Faerie Ring has proven itself to be a name that demands the respect of all who come into contact with them. If “The Clearing” was the match that started the blazing trail for Faerie Ring’s rise to underground fame than it is all that’s brought forth within “Weary Traveler” that the very reputation and claim to modern heavy psych royalty are solidified in rock-hard cement. There isn’t so much as a single second throughout the very whole of this record that drops the ball in any possible form with Faerie Ring pulling out all the stops to deliver a massive performance that expands on their sound, keeps it true to the very soul of the style itself, and a rip-snorting time that ensures everyone playing and all those listening are having a magnificent time. The exact sort of creation that was meant to be heard at peak volume with the wind whipping in your hair, “Weary Traveler” is downright intoxicating, addicting, enthralling, captivating, or whatever it is you want to call it; this album fucking kills!

Much like the rapid rise of Psychlona, Faerie Ring’s ascent through the underground can only be classified as meteoric with their power and love for the style the driving forces of what make it so magnificent to begin with from the very beginning. Every possible shred of “Weary Traveler” is what modern classics are made out of, and I have little doubt that this will be a landmark release for many to learn from and worship for years to come.
