I always know I’m repeating myself when I say this but it always demands to be said: we are truly living in a magnificent era for all things psychedelic. Particularly, when things start to get heavy is where the modern fan is treated to an absolute menagerie of greatness that shows no signs of letting up any time soon as we’re constantly getting new bands to astound us while veteran acts have yet to leave us hanging. For almost twenty years, Black Rainbows has stood as an undeniable bastion of what the sound has long been capable of. You could pick any one of their albums and be met with a clear understanding and mastery of the sound, but it is with this new opus that all the stops have been pulled for what can be argued as the best work from Black Rainbows yet.

This is the sort of band that has never once messed around, but there is always something special that’s in the works when we’re able to tell that the band has really sat down and put their best foot forward at every turn to really craft something that will leave us bewildered. Without so much as a doubt, “Superskull” stands supremely tall amongst its predecessors with its twelve tracks offering us an absolute ripping good time that doesn’t let anything stand in its way nor does it leave any stone unturned. The brakes are never pressed once throughout the very entirety of this record unless it is solely to further the grandeur and expanse of what Black Rainbows has long been capable of with each given ounce of “Superskull” a mind-rattling good time that knows how to get you hooked quick, and keep you gripped in your very seat. This is high octane rock that knows precisely how to give you a supremely energetic, rip-snorting hell of a listen that is the very definition of intoxication with the true entirety of Black Rainbows’ scope on display throughout the album. Whether you find yourself entranced by the instrumental passages, immense psychedelic tangents, or straightforward marathons of immense riffage, “Superskull” has got your number!

Black Rainbows has never been a band to underestimate in any form, but it is singularly with this album that they have put together something exceptional even for them. There is something for everybody across these twelve massive tracks that always keep you guessing as to precisely what is coming next with every eventuality something that is damn near guaranteed to catch your interest and tickle your fancy.
