For any and all psych fans, it should be clear that it has never been a better time to tune in and drop out. Be it from bands that pull directly from the 70s and 80s in direct reverence, those who push the boundaries of what it means to infuse psychedelia into many different sounds, or something in between, we truly have the pick of the litter like never before. There are numerous bands out there who have made lasting impressions for one reason or another, but one name that I don’t see mentioned often enough is certainly that of Dead Feathers. With a sound that hails the classic veins while still very much performing it all with a modern mindset, they quickly made themselves out to be an act that demanded to be watched carefully. Nowhere is that more evident than their forthcoming piece.

Since day one, Dead Feathers has made itself out to be a force of psychedelia that is not to be trifled with. From its superior riffs to magnificent atmospheres to the undeniable understanding of what it means to make quality psych along every step of the way, Dead Feathers has become a name that embodies what it means to be a need-to-know act. Their first full-length album four years ago was a great start, but it’s with everything that they’ve put into the creation that is “Full Circle” that we see the band become something else entirely. Still treading the same threads and ideas that they have been since that initial EP, the seven expansive and gripping tracks of this album sees the evolution of Dead Feathers take glorious form. Far more than a mere collection of riffs with a little bit of fuzz just because, Dead Feathers’s blending of classic blues alongside modern psychedelia makes for a particularly potent blend that alters the mind in an instant with the gripping melodies, intoxicating visages, and supreme vocals all come together in staggering harmony to provide an experience that is far more than what I think many would expect from any band’s second full-length album. Yet, “Full Circle” confirms one truth if nothing else: Dead Feathers is an entity all its own that’s not to be denied with those doing so losing out on one of the best acts to grace the modern state of psychedelia.

A body of work that brings together some of the best aspects of what the sound has long been capable of, “Full Circle” is sure to cast a shadow on everything that Dead Feathers delivers from here on out. Every given aspect of the record as something to lose yourself in without having to so much as think about it for even a microsecond before the magic of Dead Feathers grips you by the throat with the whole of “Full Circle” something that will surely be hailed as one of the best pieces of psychedelia that this year will have our way when these twelve months come to a close.
