Writhing out of the shadows for their fourth album, Baring Teeth has never been a stranger to hostile extreme metal of the most demented sort with this outing being their boldest yet most infectious work to date.

A band’s evolving sound is oftentimes the most fascinating aspect of following any specific band since we never know where we’re going to end up that being especially the case once you hit the further reaches of what the sound of metal is capable of. Without a shred of compromisation or hesitation over the year, the journey of Baring Teeth has been quite a sight to behold with “The Path Narrows” acting as their most demented and fascinating piece thus far with the nuance and intricacies of the record itself playing into the strengths that we’ve seen Baring Teeth hone to a tremendous degree over the years. From the ensnaring beginning to the haunting end, this is death metal that’s of the sort where nobody is safe whilst the off-putting rhythms and out-of-the-box approach find a particularly vicious blend that can be just as hypnotic as it is gleeful in its unabating evisceration of the mind and soul. These eight tracks are of the utmost harrowing breed where Baring Teeth shows their aptitude at drawing you into the depths of “The Path Narrows”, building you up with engaging atmospheres and intriguing sights only to take you out at your very knees with an unparalleled ferocity that shows the true colors of the record you’ve found yourself surrounded by: a bastardized form of life who’s sole purpose seems to eradicate yours.

It all makes for a blistering listen that can just be as fascinating as it can be unrelenting in every aspect with it truly feeling like the culmination of everything that Baring Teeth has been building up to for years now with the final listen being far from an easy experience where the uninitiated will surely be consumed if they’re not careful. In the voracious madness of “The Path Narrows”, one must tread incredibly carefully for it is just one wrong step and the jaws of the abyss open wide to take you in one sinister move.
