Omnivortex – Circulate

For years now, the rise of technical death metal has been undeniable and widely undisputable. Across every stretch of the globe there seems to be excellence to be had in the style with bands new and old continuing to deliver us material the likes of which cannot be deemed as anything short of overwhelming outstanding even in such a style that demands the most out of it disciples. There are always new names coming out of the woodwork to show us what they can do with plenty flying under the radar until much later in their runs. In the case of Omnivortex, their short run is already providing us with thrills and, especially, kills.

I couldn’t imagine being a musician in the world of technical death metal. Everything is constantly morphing into something that we have barely seen before, if at all, while constantly twisting down different avenues to show us what all is still possible in a sound that has already sprawled itself out across an immense expanse that does nothing but boggle the mind. Even after years of being entrenched by much of what the scene has to offer, bands like Omnivortex never cease to utterly blow my mind. Albums like “Circulate” are the sort of creations that you look upon and you wonder how such a thing can come into being and be as grandiose as it is despite being the band’s sophomore effort. Standards are blown out of the water on a regular basis, the intensity is always at a voracious high, the technical rpwoess of Omnivortex is truly undeniable, and the sheer craftsmanship of “Circulate” all come together to make for an utterly titanic performance that, alongside “The Droste Observer” from Devil’s Reef, goes out of its way to make sure that this year ends off on a highly technical and brutal note the likes of which none of us could ever hope to do.

With a record such as thing, Omnivortex is primsed to do grand things in the future if simply given the opportunity. So much of what has gone into “Circulate” is what many are clamoring for throughout the vast realm of technical death metal even if they aren’t aware of it, and Omnivortex has put itself in a prime position to act on that very opportunity with this effort that is the textbook definition of bewildering!
