When taking everything into consideration for all that has been accomplished and all that is still to be done across the vast spectrums of both rock and metal music, it’s a wonder to me that we don’t see a more widespread and widely embraced lean towards the more instrumental sides of the sounds. Anything is possible when you take a voice out of the mix even if such a thing is the driving force for many peoples’ experiences in music, but to take it away allows the mind and imagination to run utterly wild. Especially in the more progressive reaches of the styles, magnificent visages and wonders can be crafted without saying so much as a syllable. Slowly, we’re starting to see more and more acts coming out of the woodwork to show us how it can be done in stupendous fashion. With their debut album, Infinite Rising accomplishes precisely that.

Anybody’s first album is wont to have some pitfalls or incidents here and there that lead to the creation being understandably flawed. Infinite Rising seemed to avoid such mishaps altogether. Driven by a foundational philosophy that adds another layer to their music alongside a clear understanding of their craft, to find yourself before Infinite Rising is to come before a band of certifiably savvy space adventurous that are more than keen to share their wonders with you. For the whole of “Awakening”, Infinite Rising makes its immeasurably clear that they are not here to mess out nor simply give listeners a taste of what they’re capable of. Each of these six tracks provides a diverse display of power that is nigh-on excellent to behold as Infinite Rising’s philosophy of pure balance even in the face of harsh extremities as their progressive nature boundlessly and effortlessly takes them between the realms of rock and metal to put forth an overall experience that is as dynamic as it is tantalizing fluid. It’s clear that in the making of this that trio was exceedingly particular in every aspect of their sound with it showing at virtually every given turn. To say it paid off would be putting it fantastically lightly as “Awakening” dares to accomplish more than one might bargain for with any band’s debut album, yet Infinite Rising has executed it with real flavor and color.

Such initial excursions from plenty of bands are wont with elements that need to be finely tuned or maybe some clunky bit here and there in order for everything to really come together even in the face of clear passion and tasteful vision. For the whole of “Awakening”, it’s clear that Infinite Rising had no such problems whatsoever! Every given facet of this record is dripping with competency and capability on a level that is not to be taken lightly. This is just the beginning of what Infinite Rising has crafted for us in their explosive universe, and I can’t help but feel as though it’s the foundation for an upward climb in excellence that is hopefully soon to have its next chapter.
