Without even mentioning the instrumental aspect that has flung Mountain Caller well beyond the stars into realms that this corner of music is always perfect for on any given occasion, Mountain Caller’s brand of progressive approach has always been a dazzling sight to behold from beginning to end. While the three-piece has done nothing but succeed thus far in their run, it is with every given factor of “Chronicle II: Hypergenesis” that we really see the act come into their own, plan out a powerful conquest, and execute it all with intense glory. Just as competent as immense progressive passages that open up the very fabric of the universe, Mountain Caller always makes time for the smaller moments to show off the intricacies and beauties of their realms that can easily be overlooked for planets of sprawling colors or grandiose nebulas. Comfortable in their sound but never once allowing themselves to become stagnant, the single use of vocals in one track is but the tip of the spear for what brings “Hypergenesis” to life in spectacular form with the riffs, complexity, and intensity all at an all-time high in such a powerful visage that leaves one rooted in place. Progressive metal has always been something to watch and respect, and 2024 has a truly magnificent underdog in the form of Mountain Caller.

Before even it’s very announcement, “Hypergenesis” was destined for interstellar wordless glory. Mountain Caller has been on an upward trend since day one with this record only cementing that rise to a significant degree without so much as a shred of compromising in its quality or overall magnificence. Where the stars shine brightest and come aligned, Mountain Caller delivers like incredibly few others.
