While there are plenty of reaches of psychedelic rock that are heralded in for all that they can conjure, it’s the instrumental realms that I find particularly fascinating. For years has the voiceless corner of the trippy style been throwing excellence my way at a rate faster than what I expected when I first discovered it, and it still continues to astound me to this day with there always being something glorious to discover right around the corner. By all accounts, Pyramid has been capitalizing on that very potential for years now with their latest creation likely their most successful outing yet.

In a sound such as this, each experience can effortlessly vary from one listener to another given the simple fact that this is music with no voice and, thus, limitless possibilities while it is through the instruments that untraversed worlds are uncovered with a mere plucking of strings. It is then entirely up to the atmospheres and musical prowess for an exquisite world to be brought to the table with bands like Pyramid undeniable masters at bringing that exact kind of magnificence to the table virtually without issue. For everything that’s delivered within the entirety of “Beyond Borders of Time”, it cannot be argued that Pyramid has missed the mark in any capacity. Trippy, expansive, and the very embodiment of what instrumental psychedelic rock can become when it’s focused yet nonetheless free-spirited. Even if each of us can refer to plenty of other acts that have accomplished much of the same thing, it needs to be made clear that “Beyond Borders of Time” knows the job, executes it with extreme competency, and ensures that it’s not some boring creation that can be written off as hollow or, even worse, uninteresting. Adhering to the best aspect of what the sound has always been, Pyramid does not disappoint whatsoever

Where the boundaries of reality become warped or fade altogether, acts like Pyramid are always at the forefront of such uncertainty to take their own paths into the unknown whilst we wander in their steps. Through boundless exploration and tons of color along the way, “Beyond Borders of Time” takes its name literally to give the listener an experience that can only be call emblematic of what this style has always been able to deliver and it still more than capable of pulling off.
