With every given avenue seeming to have more than enough representation damn near every step of the way, it can oftentimes feel as though quality can take quite some time before it finds its way to the surface where many of us can lose ourselves within such madness. Despite all that, the old veins still get more than enough love and devotion even with all that still goes on in the vast underground. While some adhere to those old ways fervently, some twist it to become something similar but altogether a different beast. Without doubt, Whoredom Rife has become quite familiar with that very concept.

Having made their mark known in the realms of black metal not too long ago, it goes without saying that Whoredom Rife has become a need-to-know name in the underground for all the right reasons. Adhering to the old ways while never once allowing that to stop them from growing their own nefarious wings and offering us a new vision of black metal that’s as welcoming as it is unholy, their power has only been growing with time. A devastating concoction of melodies and intensity the likes of which modern black metal is all but made for, it is now with their fourth impending opus, “Den Vrende Makt”, that this Norwegian act delivers what will surely be argued as their best record yet by many. Utterly scathing in its approach but constantly and consistently overflowing with nuance and intrigue the likes of which black metal fans are always clamoring for, every step along the paths of “Den Vrende Makt” offer one insight of grandeur after another to show us what can still be done by a carefully directed hand that knows precisely what it’s doing. Mysterious but all the more captivating for accomplishing such an air with its magnanimous nature and unyielding power, what Whoredom Rife has brought forward here cannot be considered as anything less than mandatory for anyone who would consider themselves interested in the going-ons of contemporary black metal. To ignore this record or to let it pass you by would be to deny greatness.

After ten years of showing us how it’s done, it’s only fitting that such an anniversary for Whoredom Rife would be met with a creation that is in contention to be crowned as one of the very finest. A deluge of black metal the likes of which incredibly few are able to come even close to, “Den Vrende Makt” holds nothing back and ensures that the listener is given nothing less than black metal of undeniably magnificence.
