At any given moment, there are plenty of acts throughout the vast realm of black metal that are simply burgeoning with promise and potential. While there may be times where they can feel few and far between, such a band is not easily forgotten once the underground denizens realize what we have on our hands. In the case of Yoth Iria, people rightfully realized quickly what we had right away. Now, almost four years after their debut album, Yoth Iria returns to show us just how far they’ve already come.

Black metal like this can only be considered magical in nature and undeniably sinister in intent. Where some can only ascertain one at a time, Yoth Iria made it clear out of the gate with their previous album that they would not be a band that is to be missed with their success in that regard alone something to savor. Taking just one step into all that they brought to the table within the eight tracks of “Blazing Inferno” would be to quickly realize that not only has Yoth Iria perpetuated the trends they set three years ago, they’ve managed to expand and enhance the sound in damn near every regard without a shred of compromising or cutting corner. This is the kind of black metal that is simply intoxicating to bear witness to. Overflowing with darkness that’s channeled from the original days of the genre itself, “Blazing Inferno” still manages to boast a modern sleekness to it all that, went all brought together, makes for an exhilarating package that grabs you by the throat with its melodies and knows precisely how to capitalize on its opportunities as Yoth Iria expertly navigates its way towards immediate and overwhelming success at every possible turn. An absolute tour de force of what it means to keep black metal incredibly engaging and constantly scathing, “Blazing Inferno” is the blueprint for greatness that many throughout black metal’s underworld can learn many strong lessons from.

Fortunately, the very name of Yoth Iria is enough to get the attention of plenty throughout the various different corners of the underground with the band’s reputation preceding them, and it’s simply glorious to witness that reputation expand greatly in real time. Where others might take some time to reach heights like what we see here, “Blazing Inferno” is now the second example to the raw power that we’re dealing with here as Yoth Iria wields it all with complete mastery, immense passion, and compelling fury. Well and truly, they are not a force to be underestimated.
