Lately, the world of stoner rock has not once been lacking in terms of excellence with all sorts of bands coming out of the woodwork to offer us what they’re made of in tremendous form, and Gnome has certainly been one of them with their newest creation something that many are rightfully considering amongst the year’s very best in the genre.

Having made their name known as a strong force to be reckoned with since the very beginning, Gnome has always been a name to know and respect when it comes down to modern stoner rock and what it is capable of. As such, expectations can be quite high for all the right reasons, but that can oftentimes lead to disappointment if the goals are set too lofty and too high such that no band could ever achieve such a feat. Fortunately for us, Gnome can sometimes feel like they’re in a class all their own with the whole of “Vestiges of Verumex Visidrome” seemingly proving that right from the get-go. A magnificent ride all the way unto its final fading notes, this is an album that will almost assuredly stand the test of time as not just a fabulous entry from Gnome but an undeniable slab of stoner rock that has every single hallmark of excellence that we could ever ask for. One avalanche of immense riffage after another, “Vestiges of Verumex Visidrome” demonstrates at practically every turn what it means to be passionate masters of your craft without a shred of compromising the integrity of the style itself with the personality, experience, and trajectory of the album itself only adding to the glory that’s constantly on display. One listen is simply not enough to fully appreciate the hypnotism and intoxication of what’s happening here with Gnome always going out of its way to ensure that you don’t just come back for more but make you wonder why you would ever need anything else.

This is the kind of records that separates the bands who are still finding their way through the sonic madness and those masters with clear vision that are able to perceive and execute top-tier quality at what feels like every possible turn. We’ve been utterly spoiled by tremendous stoner rock in the most recent weeks with the addition of “Vestiges of Verumex Visidrome” simply the cherry on top.
