Having shifted styles over time and really came into their own quickly with technical death metal, Misanthropy sought blood and got plenty with their forthcoming album.

To see a band try to be themselves in such a manner that feels engaging and invigorating is what many of us are constantly seeking throughout the underground no matter what style we’re dealing with or how experienced the act in question might be. For all intents and purposes, it’s a search that many of us could go quite some time without bearing fruit. With the discovery of Misanthropy and all that they’ve delivered with “The Ever-Crushing Weight of Stagnance”, it’s clear that those who have been waiting for such an event within technical death metal have something to really sink their teeth into. An absolute deluge that holds nothing back in groove or technicality to ensure that the listener is thrusted into a true whirlwind of intensity that doesn’t end until long after your flesh as been stripped from your bones, Misanthropy more than lives up ti its name in lyrical themes and aural delivery. It’s a relatively brief experience after taking a glance at the track list, but ever given moment of this record matters. Not so much as a dull minute and a consistent onslaught that doesn’t yield until madness, death, or both have occurred, “The Ever-Crushing Weight of Stagnance” is a bold step forward for Misanthropy and the breath of vile air that technical death metal has been needing lately!

There are always plenty of names to keep a look out for in a style as talented as this, and Misanthropy has immediately earned itself a place in that conversation. With loads to unpack in such a tantalizing package and all the potential one could ask for from a newer name on the scene, “The Ever-Crushing Weight of Stagnance” has loads to call its own with the future insanely exciting for the likes of Misanthropy.
