For many, it’s the continuous march of progress that can really show us how healthy and adept any band is at their craft. Stagnation rarely leads to anything good when it comes to music, and there are few within the depths of the underground of metal music that are able to pull it off, yet there are still few of those who are able to keep a continuous steady rise in quality the likes of which is simply undeniably and wondrous to behold. Since its second effort, Legendarium has been a massive exception with the quality of the act skyrocketing with each release, and it’s with the act’s fifth album that we see that trend continued to such an extent that it just continues to bewilder me to no end.

Where Legendarium had a start that was a shaky foundation at best despite its promise, I can say with absolute confidence that I had no idea that Legendarium would come this far in the past seven years. That’s a long time, but the amount that Legendarium has managed to bring together for such a display is nonetheless impressive over multiple releases with each of them boasting higher quality than the last in every single category, and that absolutely goes the same for the latest from Legendarium, “For Eternal Glory”. By far the act’s most refined and varied work to date, it would be a crude over-simplification of me to simply tag this as a work of heavy metal and then wash my hands of the matter for this album proves to have so much more going on in it than that. Deceptively varied and intensely dynamic in all of its twelve tracks that boasts riffs, solos, melodies, and a vast array of intensity from all different angles, “For Eternal Glory” offers an experience that feels familiar for the likes of Legendarium but nonetheless an improvement on what’s come before. Invigorating and captivating in all the right proportions, Legendarium came into its own years ago and now we’re at the point where the band can explore new ideas and really show us what it can still do even after years of constantly raising the bar and proving only the finest acts are those that keep at it.

I could always use more sights like this. To witness a band grow into its own entity with the quality and intricacies to match the time spent on honing it craft is one of the best privileges of being a purveyor of the underground with Legendarium effortlessly one of the best examples of such in my experience. There’s a lot brought to the table within all that “For Eternal Glory” has to offer with the vast catalog of Legendarium gaining yet another certifiable victory to call its own.
