To comb through the underground is to constantly come into contact with bands new and unknown. It’s a search through burgeoning talent with time being the only thing that can offer any sort of assurance that one can hope for as quality certainly is not given that such a thing tends to come with time and patience as a band hones their craft to really come into their own. However, that’s not always the case. Sometimes, an anomaly comes along. Sometimes, we see a band rise out of nothingness with a clear vision and a deep understanding of a genre they’re obviously passionate about with the talent to bring it about in tremendous fashion. Sometimes, we get something exceptional. Sometimes, we get a band like Desert Collider.

There are always plenty of acts at any given time ready to seize the day where the realms of doom, rock, and psychedelia intersect. It’s a place that I and many others have visited a great many times in recent years given all that has come about from that particular corner, and that will continue to be the case so long as we keep getting names like Desert Collider who know this sound so intimately that one cannot help but marvel before the craftsmanship and passion that can go into a single work on what is only a band’s debut effort. The exact sort of creation that asks you to become lost between the stars and enveloped in a war beyond our comprehension of what space can still bring, it’s the absolute whole of “Generation Ship: Endless Drift Through Eternity” that we see Desert Collider deliver a performance that is all but destined to become one of the most lauded entrances to that scene that the entire year will see upon its release. A true deluge of riffs piled on top of the most intoxicating riffs that one could dare conjure up alongside an impeccable sense of what has always been the backbone of what makes this exact corner of the underground such a constant treat over the years, what Desert Collider summons here cannot be deemed as anything less than magnificence from top to bottom for what the style can still become.

An extensive debut that almost defies expectations and always knows the right moves to make, it’s in the whole of this effort that we see talent unbound with the passion to keep it all fun and engaging in such a form that’s simply overwhelming at times. When in the right hands, we can be given something astounding. For all that happens within the stellar grandeur of “Generation Ship: Endless Drift Through Infinity”, one cannot help but know that Desert Collider’s hands are undoubtedly the right ones.
