A delicate balance like this demands a deep understanding of the styles at play and how to bring them together in a singular form that feels interesting and multi-dimensional in such a form that’s able to beg the listener ever further into the dreary realm that the band seeks to weave into a glorious tapestry. Infusing it all with emotion, atmosphere, and the intensity that black metal brings to the mix is quite challenging even for the best talent out there, yet Autumn’s Dawn has become known as a real anomaly for how synonymous it has become with quality in this corner of the underground with all that has gone into “We Lost Our Hope Along the Way” only raising the bar and showing us what can still be done in exemplary fashion. While tackling many of the themes that this cross-section of sounds has become known for, it demands to be said that Autumn’s Dawn accomplishes much within its eight tracks that should offer more than enough intrigue for new and returning fans alike. For all that this band seeks to deliver, it is compelling to make the claim that Autumn’s Dawn did nothing but succeed in every given opportunity to make “We Lost Our Hope Along the Way” an evocative and capturing performance that never once lets up. Surprisingly lush in its layering and soul-touching in the raw emotions that populate the absolute entirety of the creation, this is arguably one of the absolute finest creations of the sound that I’ve come across in years.

The sort of record that you put on in an attempt to escape this cruel world and lift you back up onto your feet for another day despite the pain, Autumn’s Dawn has meticulously crafted something that demands to become lost within its depths in order to find yourself face-to-face with the darkness of the soul while always making sure to make room for the light even if it can seem brief and fleeting. “We Lost Our Hope Along the Way” is simply engrossing from top to bottom with its lasting impact sure to become a fan favorite for years to come.
