For all that the writhing floor of the underground of metal has to offer, mercy is not easily obtained. Throngs of different acts have been formed out of nothingness to try their best to deliver intensity and unbridled fury on such a level that feels satisfying as much as it is devastating to become overrun by, yet there aren’t very many that can ever hope to bring forth a special level of brutality wrapped in the obscurity of the deepest reaches of the underground that are simply caustic to the touch. It can be years before you come across a performance that properly impresses you for all that it has to offer in its violence and savage craftsmanship. It has been a long drought for me in that regard with Hexekration Rites providing an overwhelming deluge of blood to sate any thirst I had before.

This is the kind of madness the underground was practically made for. An assault upon the flesh and mind that can only be deemed overwhelming while the act in question beguiles us with a wild display of power with blunt tools of torture, a straightforward approach, and an undeniable level of voracious intensity that somehow intertwines brilliantly with the captivating rhythms and dark melodies that are pulled off throughout the whole of the work without the whole piece losing a shred of its sheer intensity. The very earth cracks open at the mere presence of Hexekration Rites. This is hellish black-death metal that we’ve seen pulled off before by sparce talent over the years, yet it is every given drop of blood that went into “Misanthropic Path of Carnal Deliverance” that you know intimately well that this is an act whose power is nothing to deny even in the slightest. There isn’t a single facet of this menacing creation that wasn’t carefully curated to ensure that the sky is blackened and there is no hope of survival for those who are not able to make it to the end of this record. Never once does Hexekration Rites even give you the false hope of making it through unscathed with the thunderous drums pairing perfectly with the overwhelming dominance of the strings as the demonic vocalist leads the way into a layer of hell on earth that feels all too real once you become lost amongst their dark glory that seeks naught but total annihilation.

Where the underground has long been a bastion for such untold ferocity, Hexekration Rites stands monstrously tall with a long-bloodied axe to match its intimidating nature and appearance. Downright bestial to the core, it’s the vast entirety of “Misanthropic Path of Carnal Deliverance” that Hexekration Rites boasts a deadly arsenal whose power and potency is not to be underestimated lest you find yourself beaten and obliterated by a true act of the underground that demands to be watched closely lest the next offensive catch us unawares.
