For every sound out there, we have a certifiable laundry list of names that qualify as rising stars. It’s what keeps every sound moving forward and fans always coming back for more as we’re always foaming at the mouth to see what our new favorite acts are able to continuously deliver even as the march of time wears us all down. There are legions of names that are delivering excellence within the vast reaches of heavy rock, yet few have captured our collective imagination like Kryptograf. It was with their first two albums that they impressed, yet it’s here with their third that they’ve raised the bar to a truly grandiose high.

If something isn’t broke, it does not bode well for those that try to fix it. We have seen plenty of names come around that try their hand at bringing forth proto-metal that actually captures the same essence that many of the foundational works from decades ago tapped into, but, of course, that doesn’t stop many from still trying. As one of the more successful acts that try to accomplish that sound, Kryptograf has proven itself already to be a name worth our respect and time many times over, but it is undoubtedly with all that they summoned to create “Kryptonomicon” that they’ve taken their craft to the next level. A singularly captivating work that embodies riffs, atmospheres, heaviness, and psychedelia all in one pristine package, these seven tracks are exactly what many of us are always looking for from this corner of metal. Wreathed in fuzz and carefully crafted to be a sublime and euphoric creation that never holds back in its riffage nor its undulating sense of heaviness, “Kryptonomicon” is an embodiment of what this sound can be when put in the hands of the extremely capable with Kryptograf the perfect vessel to bring such a compelling experience forward. It’s no wonder why many have flocked to this album even well before its release, and I would implore any of you to explore this record should you want to feel the sun on your shoulders while levitating in the presence of such splendor that has such sights to offer any who go upon such a fascinating journey.

Already, this year has been quite bountiful when it comes to material in this particular section of what the wide metal spectrum has to offer. Touching upon fuzz, rock, psychedelia, and doom metal in more than a few instances, Kryptograf has proven that they have more than come into their own with everything that they dared to bring together to make this album the absolute rollercoaster of magnificence that it is right from the get-go. “Kryptonomicon” has oodles of glory to call its own with the legacy of this record sure to be something that many strive to replicate for years to come.
