Darkside Ritual – Chamber of Deathlessness

As you find yourself constantly immersed in the many different realms of the underground, it’s only natural after some time that you find yourself wanting something that’s a bit of a curveball in more ways than one. Something that really catches you off-guard, goes against the grain even if it’s only slightly, and manages to tackle a bold approach without so much as a shred of hesitation and loads of competency to be had right from the get-go. We’re lucky enough to live in an age where it’s only a matter of time that you come across at least one such creation if you look long enough. With their third effort and the end of a trilogy, Darkside Ritual offers the listener an album that can only be considered unexpected and downright strange at times.

The amount of work that goes into any album is something to be commended, and there are always loads of examples of those that are able to really rise above the occasion and give us listeners something that really taps into the latent potential that the underground perpetually has to offer. For all the bands that are lurking in the shadows crafting new bodies of work, there are plenty that are on the right tracks and making all the right moves. Throughout the vast entirety of the six dense tracks that make up “Chamber of Deathlessness”, Darkside Ritual makes the right move and goes for the throat in every instance virtually without fail. A work that takes its cosmic themes very seriously as we’re hurled across a dark and unforgiving expanse of space that’s constantly roiling in intense violence that sees reality itself torn asunder before such might, this is something that demands you to experience it once and then do it again. Once for the raw sonic aspects of the effort and again to really become lost in the storytelling, songwriting, and intricacies that “Chamber of Deathlessness” boasts in no small form. To become lost in “Chamber of Deathlessness” is to find yourself in a corner of space that leaves nothing to chance, offers no survival for the weak, and makes damn sure that your very soul is left stained before such interstellar terror that taints you completely.

Whether it’s in its fleeting riffs or impressive stretches of technicality, there’s much to discover throughout “Chamber of Deathlessness”. Darkside Ritual finds itself amongst stiff competition as of late when it comes to extreme metal that resides in space with the likes of Lazer Throne and Labyrinthus Stellarum throwing their weight around and making their presence known, and that really makes this effort a bit of a dark horse creation. Unnerving at times and downright scathing in many others, it’s the whole of “Chamber of Deathlessness” that offers much to those daring to explore its vast halls with madness and harrowing death guaranteed for those unprepared.
