There was a hot minute a not too long ago that the word “supergroup” was on the lips of practically every other metal head given all the new bands that were cropping up out of nowhere that consisted of long-established musicians of immense talent. Typically, it’s the larger names that got all the attention, but I feel as though such a term still has use in the underground albeit deserving to be used more sparingly much like the term “highly anticipated”. When the right people come together, it almost demands to be met with excitement, and that’s precisely how I felt looking upon Imperishable and all that it accomplished within its debut effort.

When we get talent like this together in a single creation, it’s only natural at some point that we would expect the musicians to stand kind of within the boundaries of their other creations and put forth something that feels like a dramatic step in the right direction with never losing the tact or mastery that comes with the vast experience gathered beforehand. Yet, acts like Imperishable show us that such is not always the case. Throughout the whole of “Revelation in Purity” we are certainly given a voracious performance of death metal that’s laced with many elements of black metal for some extra zest, but it’s in the smaller moments and the jagged retching of the songwriting that sets this effort apart in grand fashion. Undeniably dark in material but sprawling in its methods of intensity even as the work has a whole has deeply contrasting moments to really show off the breadth of menace that we’re dealing with here, “Revelation in Purity” seeks the very light of existence in every step it takes with there not much that can stand in its way. Sure, there isn’t much here throughout these seven tracks that does much to shake up the sound as a whole, but it’s in the magnificent execution of real ferocity and the knowledge of how to utilize it all to the fullest that one cannot help but become absorbed by this unyielding performance of rusted, bloody steel that’s wielded with terrifying proficiency. It demands to be made clear that the potential for greater offensives helmed by Imperishable is monolithically high with all that they’ve delivered within this foundational work already more than enough to flatten any and all opposition that would be foolish enough to come before it.

For all the talent that’s to be had behind this creation, it should have been obvious from the onset that “Revelation in Purity” was going to be a devastating effort in a magnificent form. These guys have known what they’re doing for years now across several different projects, and now they should proudly add Imperishable as another notch on their belts as they embark on their own journeys throughout the underground with this record something that promises far more in the future for those willing to wait for those forces to meet once again.
