We could sit here all day and argue the bands that “don’t need an introduction” for one reason or another when it comes to those within the vast landscapes of all that modern doom metal has to offer. From those that have been around for decades to those that are cutting their way through the scene, there’s more talent and magnificence than what we know what to deal with at virtually every given moment! Just when you think you’ve caught up by a decent bit, there’s something else that sneaks around that catches you by surprise. I wasn’t caught up already, but it’s now with their newest effort that Slomatics has thrown a magnificent monkey wrench into the mix!

Really, Slomatics needs no introduction of any possible sort. Whereas plenty of bands would find a way forward after remaining a constant in their local scene for over twenty years, Slomatics is constantly and consistently looking for new ways to expand themselves and their craft to become an entity that is downright synonymous with what doom can be. For all intents and purposes, every given inch of “Atomicult” comes together brilliantly as a gorgeous representation of what Slomatics has carefully and methodically built for itself over all these years. Somehow heavier and atmospheric at times than what they’ve already become known for, it’s right from laying your eyes upon that cover art that you know “Atomicult” is not playing games nor pulling any punches. A constant barrage of riffs and soaring vocals that seek to tear open a rift beyond into dimensions near and far, it’s in these tracks that the fabric of space-time is bent to deliver us a messages whose ranting codes are as dense to sift through as they are mesmerizing to watch dance before your eyes. “Atomicult” is a great many things, yet above all else it’s a deeply psychedelic experience through an unapologetic deep dive into science fiction of a sort that’s downright enthralling to become lost within.

Slomatics hasn’t needed an introduction for many years now, and it’s only with this creation that we’re able to bear witness to talent continuously working in tandem with unparalleled ambition and passion to create such a visage that’s the definition of addictive from top to bottom. Even after continuously stunning listeners time after time, it’s the whole of “Atomicult” that sees Slomatics pursue greatness beyond the confines of our reality.
