King Yosef – Spire of Fear

Given the vast breadth of all that metal has to offer, it’s no surprise that time has been kind to the notion of industrial music with its metallic tendencies allowing us yet another avenue for intensity of a sort that we’d be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. That being said, it can be exceedingly difficult to find a creation in this niche corner that manages to not only approach the genre in an interesting manner but delivers on the promise the genre perpetually holds. Such a creation can take years to materialize, but King Yosef, a rising name in the scene, has delivered a sound as dark and potent as one could ask for.

Metal has always had a kinetic energy to it that gets the blood pumping. When it’s brought forward in a form that’s well thought out and devilish in its minor details, a creation can quickly grow to become something that’s as formidable as it is intoxicating to become lost within. For some time now, King Yosef has been making its own waves throughout the unforgiving hellscape of industrial metal with the act’s power and finesse only growing over time. It has only peaked further with all that has been brought to the table throughout “Spire of Fear”. Right away, it’s obvious that this is a record that’s going for the throat and knows precisely how to do it in a fashion that’s just as satisfying as it is unyielding in its raw evocative ferocity. A constant onslaught of undulating rhythms and visceral torment that elicits suffering from the darkest depths of the human soul, it’s in such grand catharsis that King Yosef continuously enthralls as “Spire of Fear” charges ever onward to make the creation superbly multi-dimensional and a bold effort that never once relents unless it’s to only have you lower your guard before another vicious offensive. Contained within a shifting hellscape that knows no bounds, the seething concrete jungle contorts and warps at King Yosef’s whim. The menace and grandeur that’s to be seen throughout the entirety of “Spire of Fear” is something that has got to be respected lest King Yosef’s overwhelming force wash over you and remove you entirely from existence.

Intensity and nuance are oftentimes the name of the game, yet that can oftentimes be difficult to achieve for all sorts of reasons. The very name of King Yosef is something that has demanded respect for quite some time now, yet it is with damn near every given aspect of this new performance that one cannot help but become trampled by the absolute dominance that this act commands without so much as a shred of mercy. For everything delivered within “Spire of Fear”, King Yosef commands an aura that is undeniable, forcing you to succumb to its indomitable power.
