While it cannot always be said that extreme metal is a place where its stereotypical side of true evil is given so much as the time of day, there are always those out there that find the appropriate time to bring such blasphemy to the surface and explore what it can still be. We’ve seen countless examples of such menace over the decades with all sorts of acts coming forth to add their madness to the mix, yet, even still, there’s still much that can be done throughout the sound’s cacophonous reaches. Established as a name not to be trifled with lest you be bulldozed by their overwhelming might, it’s with their eighth album that Kingdom shows us what happens when they succumb to the never-ending screams from the depths of Hell.

There’s always more than enough room for you to really go all-out in any given performance in order to truly create an experience that holds nothing back and ensures your listeners are left with burns, scars, and trauma the likes of which time simply cannot heal. However, sometimes the more straightforward efforts are those that are able to achieve their goals in such a way that feels complete, undeniable, and unrelenting in their execution. That’s something which death metal has long excelled with whenever it delves into its more blasphemous tendencies. Kingdom travelled down just such a path in the crafting of their fiery new work, “Primeval Cult of Strength in the Womb of Suffer”, and the results are just as fitting. Without making things too complicated as to properly herald in the relatively simple but unrelentingly efficient offensives that the underworld has to offer in great numbers, there isn’t so much as a moment of this record that isn’t carefully crafted to strip your soul of its very light nor ignore the delightful carving of the flesh. Even in the moments where Kingdom pulls back, there’s menace in the air and terror afoot. Devilishly straightforward in its assaults upon all that purports to be good throughout creation, “Primeval Cult of Strength” is something that wears you down through overwhelming force and little else. There’s nuance at play here, yet not much to ensure that by the time Kingdom throws your corpse to the wayside, you’re little more than a pile of seething viscera.

Kingdom has long had many tricks up its diabolical sleeves to constantly keep its listeners on edge in raw anticipation for whatever terror is to come next, but it’s in flipping the script and going down a much more primitive and eviler route that Kingdom taps into something unexpected. Where many others have sought to channel such vile hatred to even mild effect, what has been accomplished throughout the unending madness of “Primeval Cult of Strength in the Womb of Suffer” is nothing short of blasphemy to the highest order with Kingdom reveling in the debauchery at every given turn.
