Uranium – Corrosion of Existence

While metal is oftentimes hailed as the end-all-be-all when it comes to overwhelming intensity of the vast aural soundscapes, I think it’s safe to say that there are reaches even far beyond what metal can hope to bring to the table on its own. To achieve an especially high level of primordial fury and unkempt presence is to tap into something that can easily fall apart in the hands of the uninitiated. In no small way, the cold writhing world of industrial is just such a place. It’s a sound that’s exceedingly hard to pin down for numerous reasons, but that doesn’t stop many from pursuing the genre to great lengths. Throughout its new album, the mysterious act of Uranium takes that concept to an undeniable extreme.

It’s no secret anymore that the realms of metal and industrial make for quite a combination, and that’s particularly true whenever we get a name that is able to bring them together for an offensive that taps into the caustic madness that such a living, breathing hellscape of concrete and screams can offer for listeners seeking unique sonic torture. Returning to us after an impressive display of power not even three full years ago, it should be obvious at every given turn that Uranium is nothing to underestimate nor something that should be ignored. From its opening countdown to its impressive 12-minute finale, it’s the very soul of “Corrosion of Existence” that seeks flesh and the downfall of humanity in excruciating fashion that commands you to delve ever further into the radioactive hellscape that Uranium holds complete dominion over. There isn’t so much as a moment of reprieve in these six tracks of cataclysmic madness. A devilish blend that sees only the darkest aspects of black and death metal brought together around an unmistakable core of pulsating industrial that only seeks to dissolve flesh in sentient code until the way of blood becomes the way of cold stone lit by the flames of a self-destructed society. “Corrosion of Existence” takes its name very seriously! Dawdle not in the presence of Uranium, for to do so is to dare a demise that goes beyond the most horrific nightmares of mankind.

Diabolical in its effectiveness and never once shying away from the most gruesome aspects of its sound, Uranium should be patting itself on the back for the monumental devastation that’s spread across these 36-minute assault upon all that is good and just in this world. “Corrosion of Existence” always goes for the throat and always decimates its target, making the record as undeniable as it is terrifyingly focused in all of its dark endeavors.

“Corrosion of Existence” releases on November 7th via Sentient Ruin Laboratories!
