Being one name in a legion of others, Dead and Dripping has been making a name for itself without so much as a shred of compromise after almost ten years. Now, with its fourth album, it’s here that this act somehow raises the bar even higher.

It should go without saying that death metal has been taken to great lengths in recent years. With the rise of technicality and the adventurous nature that possesses many musicians in this corner of the underground, it was only a matter of time before we found ourselves before acts that are the living embodiment of what it means to push the envelope. For years now, Dead and Dripping has made itself known as just such a name that’s always seeking new horizons to explore and defile with its especially brutal form of death metal that is never once afraid to use its technicality to open portals to other dimensions in an effort to disorient, assimilate, and deconstruct the very being of its listeners. For everything brought forward throughout “Nefarious Scintillations”, it’s obvious that Dead and Dripping sought to take things to the next level while ensuring its undeniably writhing core of madness remains intact. Eight utterly relentless tracks that peel back the very flesh of our reality, there isn’t so much as a moment of this creation that isn’t meticulous in its torments, maddening in its onslaughts, and the definition of oppressive as soon as the creation begins lurching forward. Taking its own name very seriously, “Nefarious Scintillations” knows precisely how to get under your skin and writhe is horrific agony as Dead and Dripping’s brand of death metal seeks to burn you from the inside out.

There’s no mercy to be had here. This is a profoundly ugly experience that seeks naught but the searing of the flesh and the scarring of the soul, and it goes without saying that each of these testaments of insanity showcase just how proficient Dead and Dripping has become at this exceedingly caustic craft. Well after its closing howls does that power of “Nefarious Scintillations” linger with the horror and intensity something that’s sure to leave a lasting impact on all who come before it.
