Indigosaur – Cosmic Censor

While many of us are constantly looking for the next big thing when it comes to what rock music can still bring to the table in a revolutionary way, I think only focusing on such one-in-a-generation talent is a disservice to the die-hard passionate musicians that litter the scene if you still know where to look. Oftentimes, the new blood is what’s driving the sound forward even if hardly any new ground is being broken in the process. You just do not have to reinvent the wheel every time you hope to make for a memorable performance. Throughout their debut album, Indigosaur draws on their influences and vast creativity to make this effort indicative of what modern rock is still capable of.

Whereas it is always respectable to see a band really reach for the stars in an effort to create something that can absolutely blow the minds of its listeners, it tends to be the case that a more grounded straightforward approach is the way to go should you band truly want to establish a connection with its fan base. It’s important to know when to pump the breaks and allow your rhythms to take us wherever they may. With more than enough capability and all the noise one could ask for out of some truly sensational hard rock, it’s throughout the whole of their debut album, “Cosmic Censor”, that Indigosaur entrances and captivates. This is rock music from the soul with it being clear in virtually every given minute that Indigosaur is having an absolute blast putting on this performance. A record that deals in the status of the human condition, the very soul of “Cosmic Censor” is something that cannot be easily denied for how utterly electrifying it is right from the beginning. The very warmth of the sun has a part to play in this creation with Indigosaur opting to take a more traditional route to win over any potential listeners rather than seeking to reinvent the wheel in some fool’s errand to make things sound bigger and supposedly better.

You don’t have to shatter barriers in order to get the job done in captivating fashion. For everything they delivered throughout these nine tracks, Indigosaur’s understanding of that fact is already quite deep. It’s allowed them to avoid a terrific pitfall that has long plagued many aspiring names throughout the shifting landscapes of what rock music can still become. Without missing a beat nor an opportunity for glory, it’s with “Cosmic Censor” that Indigosaur puts itself on the map as a name that simply must be closely watched.
