Kataklysm – Thy Serpent’s Tongue (single)

Coming off of their latest and very successful album “Waiting for the End of Come”, Kataklysm has finally put out a new song that will be on their upcoming album “Of Gods and Ghosts”, and it’s an intense track to say in the least. The greatest thing that “Thy Serpent’s Tongue” brought to the table was an impressive set of guitars that brought the brutal riffs to make the single all the more catchy without losing that signature death metal sound that they’re know for. While I didn’t shit my pants over the vocals, they were definitely solid and fit … Continue reading Kataklysm – Thy Serpent’s Tongue (single)

Skinless – Only the Ruthless Remain

I’ve honestly never even heard a lick of any Skinless song before hearing their new album “Only the Ruthless Remain” and I really wish that wasn’t the case because this album is fucking awesome! Right from the very beginning, this album was as raw as the cover art is and all seven tracks are the embodiment of old school death metal in modern form  with the album being absolutely littered with the brutal growls that are completely spot on to the point where my face was exactly that of the dying guy on the cover, but you know . . . … Continue reading Skinless – Only the Ruthless Remain

Six Feet Under – Crypt of the Devil

When I think Six Feet Under, I think death metal. And when I think death metal, I think of a lot of other bands along with Six Feet Under. They’re not my favorite death metal band out there that I’ve heard, but they’re definitely up there because Six Feet Under is all about the raw, unadulterated brutality that I can only compare to Cannibal Corpse for easy comparison. Just by looking at the track listing for “Crypt of the Devil” I knew that this was going to be an intense album that wasn’t going to hold anything back and try … Continue reading Six Feet Under – Crypt of the Devil

Cattle Decapitation – Manufactured Extinct (single)

I have only ever heard of Cattle Decapitation until today. I’ve never heard any of their music and figured that their newest single “Manufactured Extinct” from their upcoming album “The Anthropocene Extinct” was as good as any place to start, and holy shit was I not disappointed! Right from the first sight of the cover art I felt like this was going to be a brutal single and Cattle Decapitation brought the brutality in every single way. The intense death metal riffs alongside the guttural, versatile vocals that have 3 different sounds throughout this single alone: your expected death metal … Continue reading Cattle Decapitation – Manufactured Extinct (single)

Bhayanak Maut – Man

“Man” is the third and final installment of a trilogy depicting the life cycle of cancer itself, and emphasizing the fact that mankind is the absolute greatest cancer to have ever existed on this planet in its unrelenting destruction and violence that we’ve committed. Well, Bhayanak Maut has taken those two things and implemented them into this one album were that cancer is displayed in one of the most angry, destructive, and complex metal performances I’ve ever fucking seen. Every single one of the 17 tracks featured on “Man” contribute just a little to the album trilogy and helps complete the … Continue reading Bhayanak Maut – Man

Interview w/Biotoxic Warfare’s George “Dimator” Dimitrakakis

I recently had the great opportunity to send some questions over to my favorite death/thrash band from Greece – Biotoxic Warfare, and their lead guitarist, George “Dimator” Dimitrakakis, was kind enough to answer my questions. Love this band and their latest album “Lobotomized”, so I’ll stop wasting your time and let you get to the questions and answers.   Let me just say thank you for taking your time to read and answer these questions. I’m a big fan of “Lobotomized” so this is a great privilege you’ve given me. Let’s not beat around the fucking bush anymore and get … Continue reading Interview w/Biotoxic Warfare’s George “Dimator” Dimitrakakis

Carnalation – Ghosts

Sometimes the best things are done plain and simple. That’s what Carnalation’s upcoming death metal “Ghosts” is – simple. Now I don’t mean it has the same guitar rhythm, lyrics, or beat the entire album; they aren’t fucking beginner level musicians. All 5 tracks off of “Ghosts” are straight up brutal and they tear up the ear drums by just being the death metal that many people around the world love every day. Carnalation doesn’t bring any super ultra amazing to the table so I’m not saying it’s genre defining or redefining, I’m just saying it’s death metal done right … Continue reading Carnalation – Ghosts

Mindshift – Horizon

Melodic death metal has two variations for me: really, really good (Amon Amarth, Despite) or needs more work (none come to mind right off the top of my head), and thankfully enough Mindshift’s debut full length “Horizon” is really, really good to say in the least. Now I could argue that this is also deathcore with there being singing and screaming all throughout the album, but I’ll just keep it simple and leave it at melodic death metal. This whole album gets both my thumbs up though with the heaviness being constant within the intense riffs that Mindshift pulls off … Continue reading Mindshift – Horizon

Disloyal – Godless

There’s always something about raw and fast paced death metal that I just love. Maybe it’s how raw and fast it is, who knows? Disloyal’s upcoming fourth album “Godless” is something that death metal fans everywhere should be able to come together and agree upon that there are several things to love about this album. If the cover art doesn’t strike you as impressive then the intense, guttural vocals alongside the ripping guitars might pull you in. If you’re big into drums then the unique pulse and beat of these drums may win over your ears and make you head-bang … Continue reading Disloyal – Godless

Feared – Synder

I’m not saying that I called it, but I fucking did. Right from the moment that I heard Feared latest single, “My Grief, My Sorrow”, I knew with the utmost certainty that “Synder” was going to be as much of a masterpiece as Feared’s fourth release, “Vinter”, if not more of a masterpiece. And much to my disbelief, the latter is true. I was extremely ecstatic when I first saw that this mammoth album was going to be a beast with all 13 tracks being innovative for Feared and death metal alike, and it’s something that this band has become … Continue reading Feared – Synder
