Terminal Death – Terminal Death LP

(I’ll be honest for this : the following quote is from the bio for this LP that’s presented on Bandcamp as a description, and I could not put it in any better way. Thought I should say that before some dick calls me a copying bastard.) “When you talk about the earliest Death Metal bands, we think of SEPULTURA, DEATH, POSSESSED (all stemming from VENOM) right off the top, but there were a few ripping bands that quickly fell into obscurity and TERMINAL DEATH is one of those bands. This is not just an obscure band; they could have been a HUGE Death Metal … Continue reading Terminal Death – Terminal Death LP

Novembers Doom – Bled White

Anyone who is a veteran listener of death and doom metal know that Novembers Doom have been at it since the very beginning pretty much. They are one of the main guys that when you see that they’re gonna be at an event or whatever you know that you’re gonna get the real deal. There’s no two ways about it when I say that a lot of these new death metal bands coming up have surely taken at least some influence from the previous work of Novembers Doom. And this album is without a doubt one of their best ones that … Continue reading Novembers Doom – Bled White

Hate Division – Order of the Enslaved

When you hear the phrase “Canadian death metal”, nothing really comes to mind right? Well that’s because until now there really hasn’t been any fabulous and outstanding bands with good albums to hail from Canada. But Hate Division’s brand new album “Order of the Enslaved” is now at the forefront of the Canadian death metal scene. When I was looking for an album to review today, I came across this album and saw that it was released today. Look at the name of the band and the album. Why wouldn’t have I as a death metal fan chose this one? … Continue reading Hate Division – Order of the Enslaved

Origin – Omnipresent

Anyone who truly knows my reviews knows for a fact that I love death metal, and whenever I hear about a new one popping up I raise my head like a rabid dog smelling steak and go “What? Where?!” I like it a lot. So as you might imagine, when I heard about the release of this album being tomorrow I hopped right on it. “Omnipresent” is badass if I have to make it as blunt as possible. The whole album basically says from the first track that there will not be one single slow and calm moment throughout every song, and … Continue reading Origin – Omnipresent

DEATH VOMIT – Gutted by Horrors

You know how elephants can produce sounds so low that we need high tech machinery to hear those sounds? Well if the voice of DEATH VOMIT’s (yes, all caps once again) vocalist were any lower than I’d of needed that same shit to hear him because it was so low that for half a second I had to stop and think if I was hearing some singing or an added sound not done by the band themselves. The low, guttural tone of the vocalist matched so well with the guitars that were super heavy, drums that had the perfect beat … Continue reading DEATH VOMIT – Gutted by Horrors

Azooma – A Hymn of the Vicious Monster

Just like how old Metallica used length to extend the longevity of their thrash metal, Azooma has done the same thing to make their hardcore death metal to make their music sound great for a longer time. “A Hymn of the Vicious Monster” takes the traditional death metal aspects and roots and uses them to its advantage by taking true death metal fans back to the original days of the subgenre, and not many bands can do that anymore. Thankfully, Azooma is not most bands. The guitars in this are so goddamned relentless that it’s ridiculous. Throughout the whole album that is … Continue reading Azooma – A Hymn of the Vicious Monster

Arch Enemy – War Eternal

This is the kind of album that people like me live for. “War Eternal” was just… fucking beautiful. An absolute masterpiece that shall become one of the legends of metal that will be known for generations of head-bangers to come. The entire album is a great representation of all modern day thrash metal mixed with some death metal and with some of the most perfected screaming I metal I’ve ever heard. Just the vocals alone are so fucking amazing that you have to listen to them to know what I’m talking about. The variety and skill that went into the … Continue reading Arch Enemy – War Eternal

Wretched – Cannibal

As Decibel Magazine put it “Wretched breathe much-needed life into thrash-influenced death metal.” Couldn’t have said it better myself. Many of us had heard Wretched’s second album “Sons of Perdition” and thought it was the shit. Well I’ve got some news for those motherfuckers. . . “Cannibal” is even better!! This entire album is by far the band’s best work yet and is start to finish a killer of an album that takes thrash and death metal and mashes them together to form something super heavy, ultra-fast paced, and fantastic. It’s hard to find an album like this that is … Continue reading Wretched – Cannibal

Feared – Vinter

If there was ever an album that made me just about shit myself, it’s this. Even though “Vinter” was released in November, I have no doubts that this fantastic doom/death/heavy metal album that sounds amazing is drawing more and more people to listen to it as it did with me. To me, this is an absolute masterpiece of the genre. The entire album is filled with the heaviest guitarists, drums, vocals, and style I’ve heard in a while. Sure, I’ve done reviews for bands that have all of those, too, but none of them take them to the level that … Continue reading Feared – Vinter

Volharding – Ascension

We all know about Disturbed, Five Finger Death Punch, Killswitch Engage, all the greats of the metal genre who started off small, but then grew large. And they all started their trek to popularity with a debut album. The debut album of any band out there sets the tone and expectations for a band’s future and what sort of music they’ll put out in the future. It’s also a fabulously exciting moment for people like me when we come along a debut album from a band we’ve never heard of, and we like it. That’s a fantastic feeling. Volharding has … Continue reading Volharding – Ascension
