My Favorites of 2015 (so far)

What a great half year it’s been! It is now current July 2nd in the States and that means the first half of 2015 is done and gone. It’s as good as any time to recap and go over my favorite albums of the year out of all the great records that I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing. Below is the list as you may have already noticed unless you’re blind. There are 20 albums in total if you want to know, and I am putting them in no particular order when it comes to how much I like them, … Continue reading My Favorites of 2015 (so far)

Allfather – No Gods No Masters

If you’ve been looking for an EP that has elements of anarchy with a sludge/doom metal performance and being all around badass then look no further than Allfather’s brand new EP “No Gods No Masters”! This album is certainly a piece of work for sludge/doom metal fans with the vicious vocals and ripping guitars than fans of both genres should have their mouths watering over in no time at all after they press play for this impressive opening track “The Great Destroyer”. And even though “No Gods No Masters” only have 4 tracks that doesn’t mean that Allfather is limited … Continue reading Allfather – No Gods No Masters

Unmothered – U M B R A

I’ve never thought that a 3-song album from a doom/sludge band could implement black metal into an album so well as Unmothered has done with their upcoming album “U M B R A”. All the songs off of this album sound amazing with their versatility between the three genres while also being very heavy to the point where you can head bang for this entire album and replay the whole thing over just to do it again. I’ve seen reviews for “U M B R A” that call it a mixture of Unsane, Today is the Day, and YOB; very … Continue reading Unmothered – U M B R A

The Dead – Deathsteps to Oblivion

Yet another fantastic album of last year that had managed to escape my radar has been given to me by the head of the PR company Transcending Obscurity! “Deathsteps to Oblivion” is (as it sounds) a hardcore death metal album that also has black, sludge, and doom metal thrown into the mix to complete an absolute Goliath-like album. I can say for an absolute fact that this was my favorite sludge metal album of last year. I’d say the same for the other genres but other albums still hold the top spots for each other, but I digress. The Dead … Continue reading The Dead – Deathsteps to Oblivion

Ominous (band)

From what I could find, Ominous doesn’t have any form out in the form of an album until the 30th of this month (for Americans at least). But Ominous did inform me about a music player on Facebook that takes their songs from reverbnation.com and allows them to be played on Facebook. Which is fine by me in any case as long as I’m able to actually hear the music. Since Ominous doesn’t have an official album out yet, I’ll just talk about their 5 songs that are available. And in all honesty I cannot place whether Ominous is sludge … Continue reading Ominous (band)
