Less Than Three – The Black Box

Less Than Three’s new EP “The Black Box” came out today and it’s an EP that sure to turn at least a few heads out there. The EP has an overall harsh theme and sound to it, as you can see from the cover art, and the music itself backs “The Black Box” up as a superb EP for a band I’ve never heard of before. Each chorus for each of the tracks has a great sound that ties the rest of the song together seamlessly and in a way that makes the song so much more better than it … Continue reading Less Than Three – The Black Box

Tongues – Thelésis Ignis

Most people think debut albums and think of pieces that are around 20 to even 40 minutes long with a good amount of tracks. But Tongues seems to have said “fuck that” and created their debut “Thelésis Ignis” as one with only four tracks but at a staggering length of 34 minutes and 35 seconds. Now that may not seem like much but you’ve gotta remember that that’s only four tracks, one of which is over ten minutes long. And the fact that all of them sound like properly done black, death, and doom metal songs makes the album all the more … Continue reading Tongues – Thelésis Ignis

Grave Robber – Straight To Hell EP

Many people, including myself, heard Grave Robber’s fourth album “You’re All Gonna Die” and simply said “yes”. This band has become renowned by its fans as being the perfect combo of shock rock and horror metal to the point where I now refer to them as “the Elvis of horror metal”, and if you’ve heard Grave Robber before then you know exactly what I’m talking about. “Straight To Hell” doesn’t deviate from that saying at all either and that’s probably a really good thing because I think many fans became fans because of the signature sound of the vocals. The EP only … Continue reading Grave Robber – Straight To Hell EP

Shadowspawn (band)

While Shadowspawn doesn’t have a legitimate album out yet, they have out a demo that contains 4 songs that bring only good news for the band’s future. All four songs have a nice brutal sound to them that will surely get some people out there going nuts no problem. The raw feel to this demo is one that I’m sure will carry over into their first EPs and later on their first full length album which I’ve no doubt at the moment that they’ll be a pretty good first step for Shadowspawn in the metal world on their trek to … Continue reading Shadowspawn (band)

Silence the Sky – Ancient

If you can’t read different kinds of font like I can then you probably couldn’t tell that the album is called “Ancient” on your own. And that’s okay because the quality of “Ancient” makes up for that exceedingly well. The entire 55 minute album has a constant heavy sound to it that may not sound as brutal as other albums I’ve heard, but it’s nothing to scoff at either. “Ancient” has vocals that are harsh all around and never cease to assault your ears with vicious persistence and guitars that use their great sound to beat away during the entire … Continue reading Silence the Sky – Ancient

The Apparition – In Ruins (single)

As the debut single from The Apparition’s upcoming EP “Glass Eyes”, “In Ruins” is what the band said that they “created this EP to show what we have been working and the direction of the band and for bigger things to come.” That’s as good a reason as any for me! And this new EP is shaping up to be a good one judging from how “In Ruins” is (here’s a secret : it’s pretty fucking good). The single is definitely a combination of death metal and thrash metal with the vocals having a deep tone to them and everything else being fast paced … Continue reading The Apparition – In Ruins (single)

Disabler – Aggressive Negativity EP

This EP from Disabler is one aggressive album (shocker) that is totally raw to the core and beyond with “Aggressive Negativity” being exactly what it the name says it is : destructive punk that doesn’t end. The pure rage that Disabler puts into this EP is reinforced with the very dark theme that the album is obviously heavily influenced by punk music which gives the album a very hardcore edgy sound that Disabler delivers without a single flaw. I bet “Aggressive Negativity” is an essential album for any of you metal goers who enjoy those bands who sound like they … Continue reading Disabler – Aggressive Negativity EP

Decapitated – Blood Mantra

With this being the first Decapitated album in 3 years, I’m sure the fans were hoping for something amazing. Now while I’ve never heard Decapitated before I imagine that you life long fans will not be disappointed with “Blood Mantra”. This album is absolutely infused with thrashy death metal that sounds amazingly brutal in every way imaginable. The vocals are deep with lyrics that have a very dark theme to theme along with the guitars that back them up by being heavy and unrelenting with the drums that are great at having a hardcore blood thirsty pace. And like I … Continue reading Decapitated – Blood Mantra

Arreat Summit – Feast of the Wicked

With this album being Arreat Summit’s first full length album, I have one thing to say : damn. I mean that in a good way, too. “Feast of the Wicked” is an absolutely raw album that holds nothing back especially with the vocals. The vocals are pretty much on the end of the metal music spectrum that is just about as hardcore as they come. That goes for the rest of the band, too, for this album. Each member has a part in this brutal album that never lets up so long as the others don’t do the same. This … Continue reading Arreat Summit – Feast of the Wicked

Forcefed Horsehead – Deux

As I’m sure you can tell from the band name and album cover alone, Forcefed Horsehead isn’t fucking around. The Norwegian death metal band is a brutal one that holds nothing back. They have a very raw everything to them that really brings out their brutality which is evident is every single aspect of their sophomore album “Deux”. Before listening to the album, I decided to look at the track listing and see what I was getting myself into. I honestly laughed when I saw the last track name which is titled “Cock Lightning” because of how random and out … Continue reading Forcefed Horsehead – Deux
