Cannibal Corpse – A Skeletal Domain

I’m just going to skip all the bullshit I usually say and get right to the chase. “A Skeletal Domain” is fucking amazing. That’s it. No other way to put it, say it, and no way to convince me otherwise. Cannibal Corpse have done it before and they have done it again. And this time with another brutally raw album that has very aggressive everything. From the get-go “A Skeletal Domain” has the very essence of hatred and blind fury in its sound that all the hardcore fans of this band and this music will no doubt enjoy as many already have. … Continue reading Cannibal Corpse – A Skeletal Domain

Wild Rose – Hit ‘N’ Run

I’ve never imagined what a mixture of Bon Jovi and Journey would sound like, but now I don’t have to because Wild Rose has done that with their upcoming third album “Hit ‘N’ Run”. Now keep in mind that while I’m not real big into this type of rock I do not mind it in the least. I’m one of those people that can easily listen to “Bad Medicine” and “Don’t Stop Believing” in a heart beat, but not very often. “Hit ‘N’ Run” incorporated many elements that (for lack of better examples) Bon Jovi and Journey used to become … Continue reading Wild Rose – Hit ‘N’ Run

Sarvas (self-titled)

I’m telling you Finland is the world center for anything and everything metal! If I ever get the chance to visit there, I’m fucking going. Anyway, Sarvas’ self-titled debut album is another one to add to the ranks of good Finnish metal. While I’m just going to classify this as metal, the drummer, Jani-Sebastian Aalto, had this to say about the style of this album: “Sarvas is a 5-piece Metal band mixing genres like Sludge, Groove, Stoner and Doom into a unique, raw entity of massive auditory goo that combines the crunchy, traditional sound with some more modern, technical elements. Rather than … Continue reading Sarvas (self-titled)

In Flames – Siren Charms

I probably should listen to In Flames more. Sadly, I rarely ever listen to them, but “Siren Charms” is so good that it’s made me want to listen to them more and that’s exactly what albums are supposed to do and In Flames exceeded at doing this greatly! “Siren Charms” is an amazing album that even if you’ve never heard anything from this band before I’m sure you can appreciate the quality of it at the very least. The album has a really good sound to it that the people who don’t like the deeper vocals in a lot of … Continue reading In Flames – Siren Charms

Endzeit – Years of Hunger

Black metal has never really been my forte, but it has its moments. This is definitely one of those fine moments. As Endzeit’s upcoming EP, “Years of Hunger” will be definitely one to grab for all you black metal fanatics out there who are looking for something new yet familiar to what you know and love. Each song from this album is energetic and really has a literal pulse of its own that never ends until the very end of the album itself. The vicious beat itself will definitely get some of your heads banging in no time and the … Continue reading Endzeit – Years of Hunger

Eyes of Mara (self-titled)

First off: yes. Second off: fuck yeah! As a debut album from a relatively unknown band, Eyes of Mara made me shit my pants several times over. This album is an amazingly well done combination of death and thrash metal (seems to be happening a lot recently). The vocalist, Tyler Trainer, said this about their debut:  “With this record, we took a step back and really looked at the music we enjoy listening to and playing. We’ve all moved forward musically and wanted to bring all of our influences together to make something we thought was more true to us.” … Continue reading Eyes of Mara (self-titled)

Incite – Up In Hell

Told you I was going to be back with this album! Didn’t believe me? Well, fuck you (kidding). And thankfully, “Up In Hell” was better than I thought it was going to be. I thought it was going to be reminiscent of Wretched’s “Cannibal”, and it was in some way but not completely. It was a really solid album, though. As Incite’s third album to be released, the vocalist, Richie Cavalera, commented on Metal Injection that they replaced their drummer and bassist and that “they brought a much more “raging” vibe to the music”. That’s always good news! More rage, … Continue reading Incite – Up In Hell

HammerFall – (r)Evolution

This is my new HammerFall album. Before it was “No Sacrifice, No Victory” but “(r)Evolution” beats that by a mile for me. Overall this album was very nice, even if you don’t like HammerFall I still think you should try this album out. I’ve listened to power metal for a while (Sabaton, HammerFall, DragonForce) and this one is near the top if not at the peak. “(r)Evolution” has the same vocals as always which still sound amazing in chorus along with the back up vocals that do an excellent job. The guitars are true power metal guitars by pulling off … Continue reading HammerFall – (r)Evolution

Aphyxion – Earth Entangled

As Aphyxion’s second album to release, “Earth Entangled” is by no means a push over. And as the cover art might suggest, the album is one that will surely get a lot of people into a mosh pit if they heard this at a concert. Everything is ultimately very good sounding death metal. The vocals are of course very deep and are brutally raw in that they always have a constant harshness that never ends as long as they’re present along with the guitars that are just heavy as all hell. And the drums have a hardcore beat and relentless … Continue reading Aphyxion – Earth Entangled

Incite – Up In Hell + Fallen (singles)

While the full version of Incite’s upcoming album “Up In Hell” doesn’t release until September 2nd, the band has been kind enough as to put up 2 of the tracks from the album up onto soundcloud, “Up In Hell” and “Fallen”. Both are very well done in my opinion because they have a nice hardcore sound to them that really goes along with the brutal raw feel of the guitars. The vocals have an incredible sound and feel also because the singer really throws all of his hate and frustration into how he sings and that makes each lyric sound … Continue reading Incite – Up In Hell + Fallen (singles)
