Diet – Palindrome

“Palindrome” was an overall smooth album that was certainly alternative and certainly grunge at times. Diet manages to have a good mix of guitars, vocals, and drums that can pull off a nice flowing song that if I were to play it it would be on a calm drive or when I just wanna kick back and relax with some soft music. The vocals were smooth and had a calming sound to them that I’m sure most anyone could listen to any day unless they’re not into this sort of music. The guitars have good rhythm and pace throughout the … Continue reading Diet – Palindrome

Provoke, Destroy – Vulture

“Vulture” is a nice album that is more post-hardcore than metalcore in my opinion but there is a subtle influence of metalcore in the songs and that gives them a nice sound that a lot of people can enjoy. The album was probably the heaviest at “Li(f)e Support” which was my favorite track because it was done really really well. Throughout all the songs the vocals went from a real nice post-hardcore metal voice to another that are very common among metalcore that if you listen to it enough you should know what I’m talking about (there’s nothing wrong with … Continue reading Provoke, Destroy – Vulture

Consumption – Induction (single)

Much as Consumption’s last album “Incredulous Dillusions” their new single “Induction” is very raw and absolutely on the harsher end of death/metal-core music by far. Thankfully, the YouTube video for this is a lyric video so you can keep up with the song because you’d be hard pressed to even know what the vocalist is saying most of the time. Everything about the single is fast paced straight from the beginning and I’ve no doubt hardcore fans of the band will absolutely love it. I also know that there will also be a lot of people bitching about the style … Continue reading Consumption – Induction (single)

Ceiling of Anvers – We All Live In Balance

“We All Live In Balance” is an energetic and pretty hardcore piece of metal that has a constant energy that doesn’t let up no matter what and that keeps the album going and anyone listening interesting. The vocals convey a very angry and strained tone of voice along with lyrics that back up their sound and they go along very well with the guitars that are quite heavy and have a solid rhythm the entire time and also do very well in the instrumental song “Circles”. And the drums have a good beat and pace throughout “We All Live In … Continue reading Ceiling of Anvers – We All Live In Balance

In Search of Sun – The World Is Yours

In Search of Sun’s upcoming album “The World Is Yours” is a really nice sounding album that bounces between the metal and rock genres and that gives it a really interesting sound that I know a lot of people (including myself) can enjoy no matter what as long as it sounds right. And this album definitely sounded right. The vocals have a sound that you just can’t go wrong with no matter what genre you prefer because those are the kind that are universally listened to by everyone. They have a very smooth sound to them that’s also rhythmic in a way … Continue reading In Search of Sun – The World Is Yours

Upon A Burning Body – The World Is My Enemy Now

Upon A Burning Body’s third studio album is definitely a good sounding piece of deathcore that I’m sure the fans of the band and of the genre can agree that it’s a good addition. The album is quite heavy and everything the band does helps in every sort of way. The vocals have a real hatred to them and a frustration that can be heard through the lyrics and the brutal style that they’re sung in. The guitars have amazing rhythm throughout all of “The World Is My Enemy Now” in that they can go from heavy and slow to … Continue reading Upon A Burning Body – The World Is My Enemy Now

The Haunted – Cutting Teeth (single)

The latest single from The Haunted’s upcoming album “Exit Wounds” is hardcore right from the start. The song wastes no time in relying on a slow build up to an explosion of metal because the explosion happens at the very beginning. And everything is very well done, too. The vocals have an unrelentingly fast pace to them along with the harsh guitars that don’t let up no matter what part of the song they’re at because every moment should be filled with constant metal as it is. And the drums have a fantastic beat to them that are absolutely raw … Continue reading The Haunted – Cutting Teeth (single)

Lost In A Name – A Silence In Static

Sometimes less really is more. When I read in an email that Lost In A Name was a 2-man group you can only imagine how much that made my head turn. I’ve done a review for a one man band so this wasn’t as odd sounding as that but it still sounded odd nonetheless. “A Silence In Static” doesn’t hit the shelves until September but I was allowed to listen to the album thanks to the band’s manager with whom I’ve worked with before. And the sophomore album for Lost In A Name is not a push over either for … Continue reading Lost In A Name – A Silence In Static

Alestorm – Sunset on the Golden Age

I’ve always been a big fan of Alestorm so once I saw “Sunset on the Golden Age” appear on Spotify I jumped right into and started listening. This is definitely an album of Alestorm caliber because each and every song has a story to it and the combination of orchestra instruments along with their usual guitars and drums setup. The vocals are still the same which everyone knows brings the pirate forth with their pirate metal. This album still has that awesome pirate sound to it and its sounds as good as it has always been. Some of the songs … Continue reading Alestorm – Sunset on the Golden Age

Godsmack – 1000hp

I’ve personally never really listened to Godsmack except for their songs “Greed” and “Voodoo”. Sue me. I’ve heard mixed comments about “1000hp” but since I’ve never had any special love or hatred for Godsmack so I practically began listening to this without really expecting anything except some hard rock. And that’s what I got. In my opinion it was amazing but it wasn’t God awful terrible either. The album compared to what little I’ve wasn’t as hard rock but it still falls under the same category. The vocals were more or less the same in my opinion though. “1000hp” seemed … Continue reading Godsmack – 1000hp
