Panikk – Unbearable Conditions

It’s been a while since I’ve heard a real, true, and 100% organic sounding thrash metal album and I wouldn’t rather have it come in the form any other than in the form of a band’s debut fucking album because debuts (as I’m sure you know) always set the tone for future albums and this tone is really fucking awesome. “Unbearable Conditions” is a fast paced and raw thrash metal album that I really enjoyed since I’m big into the ol’ thrash and any band that can replicate that sound gets an automatic two thumbs up from me because yes! … Continue reading Panikk – Unbearable Conditions

Inferion – This Will Decay

The latest album from Inferion is a death and black metal that is sure to leave those of you who are fans of bands like Behemoth pretty damn satisfied with the brutal feel of “This Will Decay”. The entire album front to back is a massive punch to the face of brutality that is probably some of the most vile underground music I’ve heard in recent months. Everything about all 14 of these tracks is something that I believe all death/black metal bands out there aspire to make in their careers because simply how grand this is as an album … Continue reading Inferion – This Will Decay

The Artisan/Every Minute Can Kill – Darker Days EP

I’ve honestly never heard of a split album, but now that I do and have heard one I’ve come to find that they can be really, really nice. The new split EP “Darker Days” from bands The Artisan and Every Minute Can Kill that comes out on this Tuesday (December 2nd) is definitely one that any metalcore out there should have on their radar. Even though the version that I got to listen to wasn’t 100% finished according to the bands, it’s close enough to the way they want it where they gave it out to us press people in … Continue reading The Artisan/Every Minute Can Kill – Darker Days EP

Redacted- Alien Nation

Now this is just a demo so don’t shit your pants after reading the album name and just go “Well fuck! Another previously respected band has turned to this bullshit topic!” because (1) there’s no such thing as a bullshit topic for metal, (2) if you think like that you’re fucking stupid, and (3) this is just a demo… Redacted may not continue making alien-themed music or maybe they will. Either way – get over it. Now, “Alien Nation” is actually pretty good compared to what demos I’ve heard before and from that first judgement of the album which is pretty basic … Continue reading Redacted- Alien Nation

Coraxo – Starlit Flame II

Mixing together death metal and techno is always a risky thing to do if you’re going for a wide audience because you gotta get the balance perfect while still having that awesome feel that the bands are always aiming for, but so far the only band to truly succeed in my eyes is Coraxo with their latest album “Starlit Flame II”. There is more death metal than techno from what I heard from the album and that balance was spot on because it gave a fresh feel to it without making it sound like some new experiment from Skrillex or … Continue reading Coraxo – Starlit Flame II

Synodik – A Matter Of Perception

For those of you who don’t even know how to imagine atmospheric metal let me explain it to you like this : it’s basically your normal metal pertaining to whatever sub-genre the band specializes in with the added sound of whatever other instruments the band thinks compliments the metal at certain points whether it be a piano, violin, or anything else they come up with. I could definitely tell that there were some of those kinds of instruments used in Synodik’s upcoming album “A Matter Of Perception” and they actually worked really, really well. The albums consists of only three … Continue reading Synodik – A Matter Of Perception

Obduktion – Mors Janua Vitae

What’s not to like about a nice death metal EP with only two songs? Well, there’s the possibility of you not liking death metal at all, but that’s besides the point. Obduktion’s latest EP “Mors Janua Vitae” has, as you might have guessed by now, only two songs, but that doesn’t mean the quality is bad or those songs are just scraps that they just felt like throwing at us. Quite the contrary. Both tracks from the EP have great sound and feel to them that I found extremely enjoyable. As a death metal fan I was able to connect and … Continue reading Obduktion – Mors Janua Vitae

Arcade Messiah (self-titled)

Once again, an instrumental album has managed to find itself in my email inbox. Today I was able to get my hands on Arcade Messiah’s self-titled debut album that comes out next month for everyone else. The album is mainly post-rock, but there are heavier moments that can be found throughout the rest of this album which is really nice especially if you can appreciate simply how good it sounds. Each song can be used as something that you can listen to easy with the slightest of head-banging going on, or something in the background to keep your brain focused … Continue reading Arcade Messiah (self-titled)

Fugle (self-titled)

It would seem to me that instrumental one-man bands are clearly underrated in the metal community. I’ve heard all of 2 albums that were purely instrumental and only had one member in them, and you know what? They were good fucking albums. And “Fugle” doesn’t disappoint me at all. The entire album was very, very solid for what it was and it’s the kind of stuff that I’d listen to at work if I needed some heaviness going on with a bit of variety and without having to worry about any lyrics or vocals that could possibly get in the … Continue reading Fugle (self-titled)

Skull Koraptor – Dead Ahead

There seems to be a rise in Greek bands deciding to make thrash metal, that or I’ve just been oblivious to the thrash metal scene in Greece like the black metal scene in India. And Skull Koraptor is one of those Greek thrashers that have recently caught my attention; not just because they emailed me but that’s besides the point. Skull Koraptor’s debut EP “Dead Ahead” is an impressive debut that clearly shows the band’s expertise in the thrash metal genre and what their future albums can be like whenever they come out. Each of the four songs from “Dead … Continue reading Skull Koraptor – Dead Ahead
