Polanski – Between This and Hate

Apparently there isn’t a really big grunge scene in Finland at the moment. Who knew? Not me, of course. But I found this extremely weird because . . . well Finland and the countries in that area are revered for having a massive metal community as we all know, so why isn’t there more variety like grunge? I’ll never know but this band, Polanski, is proof that Finnish people can make just about any rock and metal music and make it sound completely badass. And “Between This and Hate” is no exception to that rule at all. This entire album … Continue reading Polanski – Between This and Hate

Decaying – One To Conquer

Oh, how I wish this album was on Spotify because I’d listen to this every single day. “One To Conquer” is a badass death metal album that absolutely blew me away because of how great it was. Normally, death metal sounds awesome, but Decaying has taken that and amplified it greatly when making this album. This entire album is probably one of my more favorite normal death metal albums since it has the brutality and dark theme that all of them do, but this album just takes that to a whole different level while having a more rhythmic pace to … Continue reading Decaying – One To Conquer

Ascension – Deathless Light

This 2-track 14 minute death-black metal EP is definitely something. “Deathless Light” captures both the hardcore and “softer” ends of this hybrid genre in these 8-minute and then 6-minute songs pretty damn well. Both tracks use their length to their advantage by having enough variety in them to make it seem like there’s multiple songs that have been smashed together into two cohesive pieces that can be listened to easily. And I’ve got a pretty good hunch that death and black metal fans will like this at least a little bit because like I said, “Deathless Light” takes aspects from … Continue reading Ascension – Deathless Light

Despite – Chaos Trigger (single)

After Despite’s critically acclaimed album “EPic” (which I personally love and still listen to everyday), they have released a new single called “Chaos Trigger” that is to come from their next album that is currently unnamed to the public. And those of us out there who love Despite and thought if “Chaos Trigger” would hold up to the standards of “EPic” have nothing to fear because this single might as well of come off the EP because everything is as good as they were before if not better in some people’s mind. This single is an absolute brutal piece that is just … Continue reading Despite – Chaos Trigger (single)

Amken – Adrenaline Shot

“Adrenaline Shot” is Amken’s debut EP as a thrash metal band from Greece that certainly looks a doozy just from looking at the cover art. This EP, as you may have already guessed, is an album that incorporates what I know some people to call “horror thrash” which is exactly what it sounds like: thrash metal with a horror theme to it. And while it’s not as fast as some other thrash metal bands I know, Amken still has that electric feel to them that all bands of the genre have and carry throughout the albums which gives each song … Continue reading Amken – Adrenaline Shot

Dead On TV – Creeper

Sometimes punk rock isn’t all raw and harsh screaming that sounds like something you’d expect the very angry people of the world to be singing. Sometimes it has actually a positive feel to it and something that will lift your spirits even if the actual meanings of the songs aren’t exactly user-friendly from time to time, that’s what Dead On TV’s newest album “Creeper” is to me. It puts a positive sounding twist on punk rock but still keeping the same “vulgarity” as other punk bands, and I know this is a fact because just look at the track list … Continue reading Dead On TV – Creeper

Rats Blood – Low Life

Been a lot of hardcore punk coming in lately .  .  . but that’s far from bad because this is the good end of punk music, and Rats Blood’d newest album “Low Life” is no exception. This 13-track mosh pit inducing album packs a literal punch to any and all listeners who dare listen to this and if you do listen to it then you must really love your punk music and if that’s the case then you won’t be disappointed. All of “Low Life” has a brutal and very raw feel to it that a lot of the good punk bands … Continue reading Rats Blood – Low Life

Dune – Aurora Majesty

An album with only having two tracks isn’t really a thing you really see anymore. The most recent examples I can think of are Pig Destroyer’s “Mass and Volume” and Inter Arma’s “The Cavern” having two tracks and then one track respectively, but Dune is the latest (to my knowledge) to have an album coming out with a two track album and this one is called (as you might have already noticed) “Aurora Majesty”. This album isn’t even 15 minutes long but it still packs a pretty impressive punch. Both tracks run over 5 minutes long and use that length … Continue reading Dune – Aurora Majesty

Attic Prologue – From the Ashes EP

There’s metalcore and then there’s these friggin’ guys. As I’m sure you know, there’s quite a few genres out there in the metal-verse that end in “core”; namely metalcore, deathcore, powercore. Now I thought that Attic Prologue’s debut EP “From the Ashes” was more deathcore to begin with rather than metalcore, but as the album went on it became clear that this was metalcore but just a more harsh, raw, and unpolished version of it. Now this isn’t like Killswitch Engage if you’re one of those people who hear “metalcore” and just immediately think of Killswitch. This is a much … Continue reading Attic Prologue – From the Ashes EP

Canker – Physical

I’ve never heard of Canker before, but Xtreem Music has recently put out a remastered reissue of the band’s debut album “Physical”, and I’ve no idea what the original must sound like but this edition sounds absolutely brutal on a scale that only the real hardcore death metal fans out there can understand without having to think about it. “Physical” I feel is a literal name because I feel like this could bring physical pain if there were enough insane metal heads in a concert and Canker played this album. That would be awesome, though, you can’t deny it. This … Continue reading Canker – Physical
