Rectified Spirit – The Waste Land

India is without a doubt one of the most dynamic and interesting country in terms of the metal scene that is quickly growing there and the amount of bands that have put out albums of noteworthy quality in the last two years alone. One of those bands who are at the absolute forefront of that scene is Rectified Spirit who have decided to not be just old school metal or new school metal, but instead straight down the middle that takes the best of both worlds and creating a fantastic sound. Their brand new album “The Waste Land” is a … Continue reading Rectified Spirit – The Waste Land

Tine – The Forest Dreams of Black

There are ever so many combinations that can be made with the various genres out there, and sometimes they make great matches while others not so much. Tine has decided to combine the three different genres of black, death, and little bit of symphonic metal for their debut album “The Forest Dreams of Black”. Stretching out to almost an hour long, this album is very interesting in every sense of the term as each track is its own little adventure with this two-man band. One such example is one track, “The Crusade of Dracul” (which is my favorite), being about … Continue reading Tine – The Forest Dreams of Black

Siderian – Cancel Your Future

Siderian captured my attention with their single, “Reduced Aisle”, as it was a nice mixture of so many things that did not clash or disagree with one another, and now that their debut EP “Cancel Your Future” is out I can safely say the entire album is like that and it shows nothing but good things for this band’s future. Albeit there are only 4 tracks off of “Cancel Your Future”, Siderian still manage to have an interesting sound throughout all of them and even though they were pretty far from perfect (in my opinion) they were still very good … Continue reading Siderian – Cancel Your Future

Stellar Master Elite – III: Eternalism – The Psychospherical Chapter

What’s the one place that is cold as ice, more barren than the desert, unforgiving in every way, but so beautiful that is has captured man’s imagination since the dawn of time? The answer is simple: space. The astral plains have always been a source of wonder, and thus has been a constant place for muscians to go to for inspiration, and Stellar Master Elite is no different. I personally have not heard their first two albums, but now I really want to because their third and upcoming release, “III: Eternalism – The Psychospherical Chapter”, is in every sense of … Continue reading Stellar Master Elite – III: Eternalism – The Psychospherical Chapter

Abraxxas – The Killing Fields (single)

With thrash metal, everything that could possibility be thought of has already been done a thousand times over, so nowadays you can only hope for a band that has a refreshing sound while still keeping that same feel that thrash metal fans know inside and out every day of the week, and Abraxxas is one such band with their new single, “The Killing Fields”. The song is much as you would expect from a thrash band, but what really made it stand out for me was the vocals because while they aren’t all that unique, they do have a underlying melodic element … Continue reading Abraxxas – The Killing Fields (single)

Obsidian Tide – Debris

In terms of how high the quality of a progressive death metal can go, Obsidian Tide is pretty far up there as their latest album, “Debris”, is an excellent piece of its genre to say in the absolute least. Even though out of the 5 total tracks off of “Debris”, two of them are completely instrumental and they showcase the band’s versatility and intriguing sound that isn’t stuck completely to death metal. But the actual death metal is really good as it’s intense, got a great pace, and the vocals switch between awesome guttural growls to a calmer set of clean vocals that … Continue reading Obsidian Tide – Debris

Amrinan – Songs to Son

I’ve never once thought a band could combine progressive and heavy metal into something very interesting and make it work, but with like most of my assumptions I’m proven wrong by the universe and its infinite wisdom because Amrinan has done just that with their newest album, “Songs to Son”. With having 10 tracks and well over 35 minutes of a very interesting mix, Amrinan is definitely on the forefront of Israel’s creative scene for both metal and rock as “Songs to Son” is a great feat for any sort of band that’s just starting out or otherwise. The vocals are very smooth for the … Continue reading Amrinan – Songs to Son

Chugun – Virus

Some things in this world are truly made for each other and make a perfect match. Today’s example is the combination of death and thrash metal that usually turn out great albums and one such album is Chugun’s brand new debut “Virus”. Keeping things quick and packing a punch the whole while, Chugun leave no stone unturned or untouched as each track was amazingly fast and intense that will surely get fans of both genres will find plenty of things to enjoy from “Virus”. Thrash metal fans will love the speed of the tracks with only one track being over … Continue reading Chugun – Virus

Dolan Brotherhood – Love and Hurricanes

In terms of how much I like rock compared to metal, I like both very much and I’m never afraid to check out some of that nice not-so-heavy rock. “Love and Hurricanes” from Dolan Brotherhood is that album today for me. Albeit I’m not exactly enthralled by this album, it definitely has a lot of appeal to it with the most interesting thing about this album being that there are quite a few hooks and riffs spread throughout all 6 tracks that make each of them just a little bit more enjoyable. Everything from the vocals to the guitars and … Continue reading Dolan Brotherhood – Love and Hurricanes

Chiral – Night Sky

It’s always cool to know that one man has the capability to create something so complex and interesting in a single album. But this is not Chiral’s first album. This is his seventh album to be exact (demos included), so that means this guy has honed his sound, feel, and texture to such a degree that if this isn’t his crowning piece then I’d be severely impressed because his newest release, “Night Sky”, is a very nice album that is done really well done to the most perfect note that could’ve possibly been chosen. And being atmospheric black metal, there’s … Continue reading Chiral – Night Sky
