Countless Skies – Solace (single)

 I remember hearing Countless Skies’ debut self-titled album and being absolutely blown the fuck away as this band was as melodic as melodic death metal gets. And I loved it! Jarun – Pod Niebem Utkanym z Popiołu

 Before I even begin to go anywhere with this review, let me just clear up that the title is Polish for “under the sky woven from ash”. I gotta say, badass name, but I digress. Blackened Death Records Presents: Hammer Smashed Faith

 If there was ever a compilation from a newly formed record company that really knows the underground scene then Blackened Death Records is that company. Also a reference to Cannibal Corpse’s most famous song can never hurt, and it works really well in the situation. There are 13 bands in total whose genre ranges from death metal to neofolk to thrash metal to black metal. Lamb of God – VII: Sturm und Drang

 I’ll be completely honest – I’ve never heard a Lamb of God album in full. I figured that “VII: Sturm und Drang” would be as good as any album to start on and I have to admit that I was not disappointed. Dalkhu – Descend… Into Nothingness

 It is simply amazing when just two people come together to make something that even 4 or 5 people can’t even when given all the time in the world to do so. Corpse Garden – Entheogen

 There is nothing wrong with going back to the roots of something and trying to make your own take on it. That is exactly what Corpse Garden is doing with their death metal. Hybrid Nightmares – The Third Age

 While I can’t say that this is my favorite album that Hybrid Nightmares have put out, I can say that they have not lost a lick of badassery. The Last – Wars of Solitude (Transitions Pt. 3)

 Sometimes it’s very hard for me to clearly and confidently place an album in any sort of genre as it transcends several and combines them, and that exactly what The Last’s new album has done. “Wars of Solitude” to me combines some electronic elements, rock, and metal.
