Theories – Regression

From now on whenever I think of raw metal I will think of Theories’ debut album “Regression” because this shit is more raw than steak still attached to a live cow. This album from the very beginning is extremely fast paced and brings the feel of death metal alongside the hardcore grind metal that is ever so present throughout the entirety of “Regression” with the super intense vocals that are some of the most intense I’ve heard for a while that went so well with guitars that seem like they’re purposely made to create a sound that will make ears … Continue reading Theories – Regression

Outre – Ghost Chants

There’s nothing quite like a good, hardcore, brutal black metal to bring a little spring to your step when looking for some badass metal, and Outre does that fantastically with their upcoming album “Ghost Chants”. This whole album has a sound that is based solely on the principle of being as fast and heavy as possible while still keeping that extraordinarily awesome feel of black metal that even the cover art portrays for the entire album. The intense vocals are done immense justice with the guitars and their monstrous riffs along side the powering drums that pound along in each … Continue reading Outre – Ghost Chants

Kafirun – Glorification of Holy Death

When it comes down to just straight black metal with a modern kick to it that a lot of metal heads can hear and enjoy, Kafirun has hit the nail on the motherfucking head with their new album “Glorification of Holy Death”. This album is a blast of old fashioned black metal done right with ripping guitars and hardcore vocals that us fans know and love, but this also comes with a twist of modern black metal that brings a sort of refinement to the music that persists throughout the album and is very noticeable if you really listen to … Continue reading Kafirun – Glorification of Holy Death

Carach Angren – This is No Fairy Tale

I truly never thought that black metal could be put into a form that is like an opera so but so much more fucking badass and awesome. Carach Angren has created an album that could be made into a literal opera and it would have me glued to my goddamn seat because it would be fucking great and way more entertaining. “This is No Fairy Tale” is an absolute masterpiece in every sense of the word because this album has all the raw make up of the best black metal but it also has an entire orchestra backing it up … Continue reading Carach Angren – This is No Fairy Tale

Veld – Daemonic: The Art of Dantalian

An album that is seven years in the making is bound to build up some sort of hype, and even more when the album is said to take influence from bands like Behemoth and Decapitated. Veld has done all of that and pulled it off fantastically with their upcoming death metal album “Daemonic: The Art of Dantalian” because this entire album is heavy. It’s fast. It’s loud. It’s fucking badass. The fact that the album does sound like a mash-up between Behemoth and Decapitated just makes it all the more better with its brutally gruesome feel to it with the harsh vocals … Continue reading Veld – Daemonic: The Art of Dantalian

The Passion of Our Souls – Soulmates

The thought of melodic death metal and pop metal being fused into on has honestly never come across my mind until I saw this album. The Passion of Our Souls has created an album with a female vocalist that has a very raw set of vocals in between choruses, but during the chorus is where the pop metal comes in with the guitars still staying relatively the same but the vocals start singing instead of the sound that I can only call “the death metal voice”. We should all have a rough idea of what that sounds like. While I … Continue reading The Passion of Our Souls – Soulmates

Mortals / Repellers (split)

Just by looking at this cover I should’ve known that this split between black metal acts Mortals and Repellers was gonna be badass. This album starts off with an 8-minute track from Mortals that is filled with creative ingenuity because it had just an awesome feel to it that was smooth, but rugged at the same time with it because of it being black metal. But then the rest of the album is Repellers and I’m completely fine with that because Repellers did as good of a job in 3 songs that Mortals did in just one with them being … Continue reading Mortals / Repellers (split)

Meridius – Speed Kills (single)

Coming from Canadian thrash metallers Meridius, “Speed Kills” off of the band’s upcoming self-titled EP is a fast piece of work, as is expected with thrash metal. The single has this real quick, raw sound to it that when you catch some of the lyrics really catches your dreams and slowly twists them into nightmares that will stay with you for the entire song and surely will for the entire 3-track EP when it drops on March 20th. The feel of the song also appeals to us thrash fans who like the speed and the vocals that are fast and … Continue reading Meridius – Speed Kills (single)

Evacuate the City – The Catastrophe

Metalcore is commonly known to people who don’t normally listen to it (metal elitists) swear upon the entire universe that the genre is just “a bunch of fuckin’ bitch whining and nothing hardcore and err it’s fucking bullshit”. Well I am not such an elitist because metalcore is personally one of my favorite genres because it’s probably the genre that is most packed with meaning to each song while also having two distinct vocal styles that can be one of the greatest combination of vocals that you’ve ever heard (personal examples: Times of Grace, Devil You Know, A Breach of … Continue reading Evacuate the City – The Catastrophe

Sacred Blood – Argonautica

This third release from acclaimed Greek folk metal band Sacred Blood has left me applauding greatly and hitting that replay button over and over because their upcoming album “Argonautica” is something only a true Greek folk metal band could pull off. Now if you know your Greek mythology as I do to an extent you should know that judging by the various elements of the cover art from the warrior atop the serpent (not dragon, no wings that I can see) holding a golden fabric so it must be Jason getting the legendary Golden Fleece, and the woman enchanting the … Continue reading Sacred Blood – Argonautica
