Evil Invaders – Pulses of Pleasure

Belgian speed metallers Evil Invaders have created a racing album that front to back is catered for those who love them some fucking fast metal that’s aggressively badass. “Pulses of Pleasure” has a literal mind of its own where its aggressive feel and attitude matches that of even Exodus and has a sound that will attract fans of classic thrash with its old school texture to it. Everything about this album is an essential for any speed or thrash metal fan out there today because it has the vocals, the guitars, the raw feel and the cover that fits the … Continue reading Evil Invaders – Pulses of Pleasure

Ensiferum – One Man Army

The behemoths of folk metal have returned with their latest album “One Man Army” and (as I’m sure you may know) it’s pretty fucking awesome especially since it’s a more than worthy follow up to their previously acclaimed album “Unsung Heroes” which was the absolute shit. This album from beginning to end is as hypnotic and awesome as I expected after watching the music video for the title track which was only a prelude to the badassery that was shown in this album. I know for a fact that any fan of Ensiferum (hello!) will enjoy this album to the point … Continue reading Ensiferum – One Man Army

Finsterforst – Mach Dich Frei

One hour and 14 minutes. One hour and 14 minutes and eight tracks. Holy shit! I’ve rarely been able to come across albums with songs that exceed 10 minutes and pulled it off with the most notable being Inter Arma’s latest album “The Cavern”. But “Mach Dich Frei” had an amazing sound for its entirety especially for the seventh track, “Reise zum…”, which was purely instrumental but it was a solid 5 minutes of sounds coalesced to create something soothing but powerful all at once. The vocals in this along with both the drums and the guitars that they create … Continue reading Finsterforst – Mach Dich Frei

Steve Saluto – The Silver Skull Legend

I’ve honestly no idea who Steve Saluto is, but apparently he’s a big deal even though I’ve never ever heard of him before today. But you know what? I wish I had of heard of him before today because his latest solo EP “The Silver Skull Legend” is an excellent rock album in every aspect to its flow to the riffs to the versatility of Saluto’s playing of every instrument. The vocals had a very smooth and melodic feel to them that are just the sort that I know just about anyone can listen to any time of the day … Continue reading Steve Saluto – The Silver Skull Legend

The Midnight Ghost Train – Cold Was The Ground

As one of my best friends would say, “Dat cover” (yes. . . “dat”). And to which I have this to say: this album is fucking great! “Cold Was The Ground” is an amazing piece of work from the Kansan trio The Midnight Ghost Train that I will definitely for a fact buy twice; once for iTunes and another time for the CD. I think it’s that amazing, yes. This entire album just amazed me from start to finish with the grinding vocals and hardcore guitars that were in perfect harmony with the explosive drums for the whole album. But … Continue reading The Midnight Ghost Train – Cold Was The Ground

Embrional – The Devil Inside

In terms of raw brutality and sheer force, this is probably the best death metal album of this degree since Cannibal Corpse’s “A Skeletal Domain” last year. And I think that just by the cover art alone some of you may already be staring at it going “I’m gettin’ a piece of that shit!” Well you’d be totally good with me if you’re compelled to listen to “The Devil Inside” when it comes out because this album has the brutality switch turned on for absolutely everything from the amazing vocals to the digitally added audio like at the beginning of … Continue reading Embrional – The Devil Inside

Thulcandra – Ascension Lost

As a death and black metal fan I feel like I can say with a degree of confidence that this is a badass album. I personally think that this is more melodic black metal than blackened death, but the band calls themselves blackened death so I won’t argue; I just think it sounds badass. The vocals have a great melody and sound to them that I know any fan of black or death metal can enjoy simply because of its hardcore raspy sound that we’ve all known and loved, the guitars have awesome rhythm and feel that only the drums … Continue reading Thulcandra – Ascension Lost

Norse – Pest

I honestly never thought that black metal could get better than it has been for a while. Norse’s new upcoming album “Pest” is a bold new beginning that no doubt spells a new beginning for black metal everywhere simply because of how amazingly well done “Pest” is. Just everything about this album is innovative down to the very sound and it is just amazing that this is from a two man band. It just blows my fucking mind. This is unprecedented for me to find more than one two man band and have them both sound fucking amazing. Totally unheard of … Continue reading Norse – Pest

The Bowery – Adapt

This is most likely my favorite technical metal album (EP in this instance) for the year so far purely because of how awesome of a sound The Bowery has created for their upcoming EP “Adapt”. The vocals in this were pretty hardcore for what I’ve recently heard and they sound fantastic with the melody that I feel like many people can find very enjoyable especially for those people who like their melody but not in copious amounts, hopefully you know what I’m saying. The guitars had this heavy, destructive, and has a monstrous beat to it along with the drums … Continue reading The Bowery – Adapt

Au-Dessus (self-titled)

I’ve never been the biggest fan of post black metal before because it honestly just puts me to sleep half the time. But Au-Dessus’ new upcoming self-titled album brings a little spice and shakes up the mix for me that sadly didn’t make me love it but it made the album far more interesting for me. This felt much more raw and, in my mind, more well produced than others before it. Now the only thing that really made me not love this album was that I felt like it was way too slow for my own personal preference in a lot of places. … Continue reading Au-Dessus (self-titled)
