Siderian – Reduced Aisle (single)

The beginning of band is defined by their first EP, but before that’s released all we have would be the band’s debut single. That’s the case with Siderian and their upcoming debut, “Cancel Your Future”, coming out soon, and all we have to discern of Siderian is their debut single, “Reduced Aisle”. This song is a solid 3 and a half minute track that only shows good things will come of “Cancel Your Future” when it drops as this song has all nine yards. The vocals have an intense black metal screech feel to them that makes them all the … Continue reading Siderian – Reduced Aisle (single)

Exquisite Ending – The Rite of Misanthropism: Psalms V to IX

I’ve never been afraid to dive into the world of some of the truly raw and intense black metal, but have personally never been a huge fan of it as I always found it to lack form and a good feel to it. Few bands have been able to get my thumbs up in approve for this style of black metal, and Exquisite Ending has now been added to that list as their new upcoming album, “The Rite of Misanthropism: Psalms V to IX”, is black metal that holds nothing back and leaves no survivors. Straight from the beginning I … Continue reading Exquisite Ending – The Rite of Misanthropism: Psalms V to IX

Jarun – Pod Niebem Utkanym z Popiołu

Before I even begin to go anywhere with this review, let me just clear up that the title is Polish for “under the sky woven from ash”. I gotta say, badass name, but I digress. This is only Jarun’s second album, but I can already tell that just by listening to this 50+ minute album that they have got their own unique sound down tight. “Pod Niebem Utkanym z Popiołu” (not expecting you to know how to pronounce that) consists of mostly black metal but while also elements of folk and progressive metal at the same time, so for the … Continue reading Jarun – Pod Niebem Utkanym z Popiołu

Dalkhu – Descend… Into Nothingness

It is simply amazing when just two people come together to make something that even 4 or 5 people can’t even when given all the time in the world to do so. Dalkhu is a very interesting and dynamic duet whose second album, “Descend… Into Nothingness”, is a stroke of blackened death metal genius that I’ve never heard from a two man band before in my life. As you might have already guessed from that cover art, this album is raw, brutal, and holds nothing back as there is nothing keeping Dalkhu in one place as their music is chaos … Continue reading Dalkhu – Descend… Into Nothingness

Hybrid Nightmares – The Third Age

While I can’t say that this is my favorite album that Hybrid Nightmares have put out, I can say that they have not lost a lick of badassery. Their new album, “The Third Age”, is the third part of the four part and so far acclaimed Ages series that this band have been creating so far this year, and I can vouch for the band in saying that this album is fucking awesome and a more than worthy addition to this series. “The Third Age” is without a doubt Hybrid Nightmares’ most brutal album to date and breaks new ground … Continue reading Hybrid Nightmares – The Third Age

Hybrid Nightmares – Ash and Bone (single)

Coming back with the third installment of their 4 part album “Ages” series, Melbourne based Hybrid Nightmares have come back to us with the first track off of “The Third Age” which is due by either late this July or early August, either way doesn’t matter as I will wait as long as I have to for this album. I still love listening to the previous two albums, “The First Age” and “The Second Age”, every single day because they have an amazingly good quality sound of black metal mixed with progressive metal to make a crushing feel and intense … Continue reading Hybrid Nightmares – Ash and Bone (single)

Funeste – Le Triomphe du Charnier

Oh, it’s one of those black metal bands is it? One of those that you see the band’s logo and it looks either like a bunch of twigs flung unto each other, lightning going every which way, or lightning twigs going every which way. Well thankfully, Funeste is also one of those good black metal bands as this Canadian duet (duet) whose debut album, “Le Triomphe du Charnier”, is spot on what you would expect from a band from the world’s 2nd largest country. “Le Triomphe du Charnier” only has 4 tracks to its name, but those tracks are absolutely … Continue reading Funeste – Le Triomphe du Charnier

Vanum – Realm of Sacrifice

Holy sweet mother of fucking God! I remember yesterday how I said that Hope Drone’s “Cloak of Ash” was one of the most impressive atmospheric black metal albums I’ve heard, and now I’m here to say that again but with Vanum’s album of the same genre, “Realm of Sacrifice”. Every single aspect of this album is precisely what the essence of atmospheric black metal is supposed to sound like with all 4 tracks (each are 8+ minutes) emitting the most ominous, creepy, and unnerving feel that I’ve ever heard come out of an album like this. After all that would leave the … Continue reading Vanum – Realm of Sacrifice

Hope Drone – Cloak of Ash

As a strike of absolute brilliance that I did not see coming, Hope Drone’s upcoming album “Cloak of Ash” is a 7-track piece of atmospheric black metal mixed with sludge metal that fans will be completely blown the fuck away. That’s how I was after just the first track which over 20 goddamn minutes long, and an interesting 20 at that. Every other track was 9 to 10 minutes long which is one of the things that atmospheric black metal is known for along with being atmospheric, of course. Each track off of “Cloak of Ash” is a roller coaster … Continue reading Hope Drone – Cloak of Ash

Myrkur – Onde Børn (single)

I remember listening to Myrkur’s debut album and giving it a fair applause as I liked its style of black metal that went in and out of being atmospheric black metal and just normal black metal. Now we’re back with the one-woman band’s newest single “Onde Børn” which while I thought was overall well done, it was not on the same scale of grandeur of Myrkur’s debut. The vocals were absolutely beautiful and haunting at the same time which made them perfect for the guitars and drums which were what really brought the black metal. Mixed together they made a … Continue reading Myrkur – Onde Børn (single)
