Cemetery Filth – Screams From The Catacombs

Okay whoever the fuck keeps saying that old school death metal is no longer thing is a fucking liar because Cemetery Filth’s “Screams From The Catacombs” is proof that it’s still very much a thing in today’s metal community. This EP goes back to the very roots of all death metal ever to the point that if you asked someone when this album came out they’d probably say the 80s because it sounds like it’s straight from that era of metal the entire time it’s going. The vocals just claw at your ears and then the guitars and drums just … Continue reading Cemetery Filth – Screams From The Catacombs

Death Comes Pale – World Grave

I’m sure you can notice from the band name  . . . and the album title . . . and then the album cover that Death Comes Pale isn’t fucking around. This entire album is one death and black metal piece of work that is literally meant to (as the cover suggests) tear are your ear drums and envelope you in brutal metal that just doesn’t end with songs that range between three and a half minutes to almost eight minutes long! Damn. The vocals don’t give a moment’s rest along with the guitars that are absolutely brutal with the … Continue reading Death Comes Pale – World Grave

Halahkuh – Breaking the Shackles (single)

Halahkuh’s latest song “Breaking the Shackles” is from their upcoming album to which I don’t know the name of. What, did you think it’s that easy? Well, it’s not. Sorry to burst your bubble. Anyway, this single really does an excellent job of throwing together death and thrash metal into one cohesive 5 minute and 36 second track that sounds like it’s meant to make your ears bleed (kidding). And I really like what one sentence reads on the Bandcamp page for this single. It reads, “this is a well-tempered Thrash/Death song laced with melodies while not eschewing the band’s … Continue reading Halahkuh – Breaking the Shackles (single)

Obituary – Inked In Blood

Obituary’s upcoming album “Inked In Blood” comes to us on October 27th and I can guarantee that true fans of Obituary will not be disappointed. If you are . . . well, listen to it again. While I, personally, would not give this a ten out of ten, five stars, or two thumbs up, I do give it a singular thumb raised to the air and a high recommendation for anyone who’s into death metal. The only real thing that I have to be a nit-picky critic about is that I believe death metal sounds much better when it’s fast and brutal. … Continue reading Obituary – Inked In Blood

Abysmal Dawn – Obsolescence

First off – that cover art is amazing! Now, Abysmal Dawn’s upcoming album “Obsolescence” is an absolutely brutal album that has an extremely dark theme to it embraced in vocals that are the most unrelenting that I’ve heard so far in death metal. The entire album is just completely raw and vicious to no end with guitar solos that are very impressive in their calmest moments and have a totally deathly sound to them. And the vocals like I said are hardcore and have a sound to them that can literally make ears bleed if they were played loud enough … Continue reading Abysmal Dawn – Obsolescence

Tongues – Thelésis Ignis

Most people think debut albums and think of pieces that are around 20 to even 40 minutes long with a good amount of tracks. But Tongues seems to have said “fuck that” and created their debut “Thelésis Ignis” as one with only four tracks but at a staggering length of 34 minutes and 35 seconds. Now that may not seem like much but you’ve gotta remember that that’s only four tracks, one of which is over ten minutes long. And the fact that all of them sound like properly done black, death, and doom metal songs makes the album all the more … Continue reading Tongues – Thelésis Ignis

Shadowspawn (band)

While Shadowspawn doesn’t have a legitimate album out yet, they have out a demo that contains 4 songs that bring only good news for the band’s future. All four songs have a nice brutal sound to them that will surely get some people out there going nuts no problem. The raw feel to this demo is one that I’m sure will carry over into their first EPs and later on their first full length album which I’ve no doubt at the moment that they’ll be a pretty good first step for Shadowspawn in the metal world on their trek to … Continue reading Shadowspawn (band)

The Apparition – In Ruins (single)

As the debut single from The Apparition’s upcoming EP “Glass Eyes”, “In Ruins” is what the band said that they “created this EP to show what we have been working and the direction of the band and for bigger things to come.” That’s as good a reason as any for me! And this new EP is shaping up to be a good one judging from how “In Ruins” is (here’s a secret : it’s pretty fucking good). The single is definitely a combination of death metal and thrash metal with the vocals having a deep tone to them and everything else being fast paced … Continue reading The Apparition – In Ruins (single)

Decapitated – Blood Mantra

With this being the first Decapitated album in 3 years, I’m sure the fans were hoping for something amazing. Now while I’ve never heard Decapitated before I imagine that you life long fans will not be disappointed with “Blood Mantra”. This album is absolutely infused with thrashy death metal that sounds amazingly brutal in every way imaginable. The vocals are deep with lyrics that have a very dark theme to theme along with the guitars that back them up by being heavy and unrelenting with the drums that are great at having a hardcore blood thirsty pace. And like I … Continue reading Decapitated – Blood Mantra

Pantokrator – Incarnate

Pantokrator’s latest album “Incarnate” is an album that I liked very much. It has aspects of a very good death metal band but then Pantokrator decides to add in some special spice of their own to the mix which isn’t a bad thing in any way. My favorite example of this is the track “Icarus Burning” because in the beginning it has awesome riffs that sound amazing and then they lead into the vocals coming in with their edgy and brutal tone that goes perfectly with the guitars. And the chorus is absolutely flawless. The rest of “Incarnate” doesn’t scale … Continue reading Pantokrator – Incarnate
