Every Hour Kills (self-titled)

I never thought was a melodic metal album would sound like if a band were to infuse just the slightest bit of electronics into the mix, and then I heard Every Hour Kills’ self-titled debut. Okay, that’s a lie. I heard their first single off the album, “Almost Human”, months ago and it had a little electronics in there, but they were very brief while used very well. And much to my happiness, the same thing is incorporated in the other 4 tracks off of “Every Hour Kills”. Each song has an uplifting kind of feel to them that while … Continue reading Every Hour Kills (self-titled)

Disturbed – The Vengeful One (single)

What’s that? Disturbed has come back after 4 years of hiatus? I’ll take it! Yes, indeed, the purveyors of the power of “oh ah ah ah” have returned with their first album since “Asylum” which I still love with my entire heart. I’ve been a big fan of Disturbed as they’re one of the bands to first get me into metal, but I’m not saying they’re perfect as I cannot listen to many of the songs off of their album “Believe” for whatever reason. But the only thing they’ve brought from “Believe” today is the symbol which is now on this … Continue reading Disturbed – The Vengeful One (single)

Ravenscroft – Into the Dark (single)

I still remember hearing Ravenscroft for the first time and applauding their melody that was done flawlessly for the entire album. Now they have returned with their latest single “Into the Dark” off of their album which doesn’t have a name as far as I know. This song is definite evidence that Ravenscroft still haven’t lost their melodic touch and have no plans to stray from that style or stop using it because they know how to do it so fucking well. “Into the Dark” has smooth vocals and metal guitars and drums that just captured the mind of anyone … Continue reading Ravenscroft – Into the Dark (single)

Grimace – Rising

I still remember listening to Grimace’s first album, “Gates of Mind”, and being absolutely blown away at the excellent showcase of melodic metal that was that album, and now this Finnish band has returned with their brand new 3-track EP “Rising”. Before I go anywhere let me just say that in my personal opinion “Gates of Mind” was better in my eyes, but that doesn’t mean “Rising” lacked what Grimace’s debut did. All three tracks out of this EP still have that very nice and smooth melodic sound to them that was present in the previous album, but the vocals … Continue reading Grimace – Rising

Winterfire – The Beckoning Silence

Melodic metal always takes me back to Disturbed just because they’re my favorite melodic metal band and I listen to them on a daily basis, so they’re always fresh in my brain. But Winterfire’s debut album “The Beckoning Silence” is an album with lengthy tracks (3-7 minutes long) that impresses with each track as you continue into the album that might be the new Disturbed for some people, not for me however even though this is a very solid album. All 11 tracks have a cool, flowing sound to them that is very smooth and dynamic at once which is … Continue reading Winterfire – The Beckoning Silence

The Agonist – Eye of Providence

The Agonist’s latest album, “Eye of Providence”, is one of those few amazing examples that progressive metal has come a long way and can be one of the most fucking dynamic albums you’ve ever heard in your life. This female fronted band had a resounding feel to it that I feel like many metal fans can agree with because the harsher vocals had a great sound and feel to them while the softer singing was just absolutely beautiful. The guitars and drums also have a great rhythm to them that are melodic and that’s good for me because I prize … Continue reading The Agonist – Eye of Providence

Every Hour Kills – Almost Human (single)

Singles, as we all know, are simply preludes to an album which is usually one of the highlights of the album. Well Every Hour Kills’ new single “Almost Human”off their upcoming self-titled EP coming this summer. This song has a great feel to it and anyone who’s listened to the truly higher quality of melodic metal (for example, Disturbed) knows what it feels like to hear the really good shit and its great sound. “Almost Human” has just that. The song has an amazing feel to it that is uplifting and empowering at the same time and it makes you … Continue reading Every Hour Kills – Almost Human (single)
