We Rise the Tides – Legacy (single)

I remember hearing We Rise the Tides for the first time with their last EP, “Death Walk”, being the best deathcore I’ve ever heard by miles and ended being one of my favorite albums of 2014 easily. But it is with actual sadness for me to learn that they have decided to break up and pursue other personal projects (nothing wrong with that at all!), but they have decided to give us fans a farewell present with the single “Legacy”. This song is the most mature and impressive deathcore they’ve done out of doing 2 very nice EP’s, and shows … Continue reading We Rise the Tides – Legacy (single)

Abraxxas – The Killing Fields (single)

With thrash metal, everything that could possibility be thought of has already been done a thousand times over, so nowadays you can only hope for a band that has a refreshing sound while still keeping that same feel that thrash metal fans know inside and out every day of the week, and Abraxxas is one such band with their new single, “The Killing Fields”. The song is much as you would expect from a thrash band, but what really made it stand out for me was the vocals because while they aren’t all that unique, they do have a underlying melodic element … Continue reading Abraxxas – The Killing Fields (single)

Cartheus – The Dispute (single)

This is a track that you have to listen to when you’re looking to chill. This is not a track you want to play to get the energy at a party. “The Dispute” is Cartheus’ single from their upcoming debut album, and while the only problem I have with it is its pacing, this song is not bad by any means. It had a very nice groove to it with the bass have a good rhythm alongside the fluid guitars that were just spot on to say in the least for the entirety of “The Dispute” which is over 7 … Continue reading Cartheus – The Dispute (single)

Slayer – Cast the First Stone (single)

I was gonna wait until the actual release of “Repentless” to actually check out anything about Slayer’s new thing, but I couldn’t resist anymore when they put out “Cast the First Stone” and decided to check out what the fuck this album will sound like when it drops. And just based upon this song, “Cast the First Stone” has brought my hopes up a little bit in terms of excitement for “Repentless”. Even though I’ll fully admit that I’m more of a Metallica guy and have never really been into Slayer as other people, I have checked out my fair share … Continue reading Slayer – Cast the First Stone (single)

Whispered – Sakura Omen (single)

The one thing that I could never have seen coming no matter how much I thought about the possibility of it being a thing is melodic death metal mixed with epic metal that is heavily Japanese influenced. Now, that right there just sounds like a big fucking mess as a band trying to merge two cool things together to make each more badass and it would be too good to be true if it worked. Well, it does work and is too good to be true because Whispered have made a name for themselves along with their niche group of fans (of which I’m now … Continue reading Whispered – Sakura Omen (single)

Siderian – Reduced Aisle (single)

The beginning of band is defined by their first EP, but before that’s released all we have would be the band’s debut single. That’s the case with Siderian and their upcoming debut, “Cancel Your Future”, coming out soon, and all we have to discern of Siderian is their debut single, “Reduced Aisle”. This song is a solid 3 and a half minute track that only shows good things will come of “Cancel Your Future” when it drops as this song has all nine yards. The vocals have an intense black metal screech feel to them that makes them all the … Continue reading Siderian – Reduced Aisle (single)

Despite – Praedonum (single)

Despite is one of those bands for me that no matter they pump out, I manage to love it. Their last EP, “Epic”, was fucking amazing and so was their last single, “Chaos Trigger”. Now this 6-man, 8-stringed melodic death metal band has done it again with their brand new song “Praedonum”. Tackling the issue of children who have been abused and kidnapped are captured within the powerful lyrics as they tell how the disgusting people who commit such crimes will pay for their hellish deeds and then some. The vocals for this song are slightly different from Despite’s previous … Continue reading Despite – Praedonum (single)

Countless Skies – Solace (single)

I remember hearing Countless Skies’ debut self-titled album and being absolutely blown the fuck away as this band was as melodic as melodic death metal gets. And I loved it! They only had 4 tracks to their name, but now they add their fifth, “Solace”, from their upcoming and currently unnamed full length album that is due later this year. When I saw that they released “Solace” (which was but hours ago at this time) I immediately went to go check out this song because I was extremely excited to see what else Countless Skies could come up with, and … Continue reading Countless Skies – Solace (single)

Children of Bodom – Morrigan (single)

I’m sure anyone reading this knows who Children of Bodom is so I’m not gonna waste your time by explaining their style of melodic death to you as you just want to know what their new single, “Morrigan”, sounds like. Well it sounds fucking awesome. I liked their previous album “Halo of Blood” but I didn’t love it like many people did, but the style was very intruiging to me and with this new song I can tell that “I Worship Chaos” will be a whole different beast altogether. The beginning of this track starts off very melodic and even … Continue reading Children of Bodom – Morrigan (single)
