Halahkuh – Breaking the Shackles (single)

Halahkuh’s latest song “Breaking the Shackles” is from their upcoming album to which I don’t know the name of. What, did you think it’s that easy? Well, it’s not. Sorry to burst your bubble. Anyway, this single really does an excellent job of throwing together death and thrash metal into one cohesive 5 minute and 36 second track that sounds like it’s meant to make your ears bleed (kidding). And I really like what one sentence reads on the Bandcamp page for this single. It reads, “this is a well-tempered Thrash/Death song laced with melodies while not eschewing the band’s … Continue reading Halahkuh – Breaking the Shackles (single)

The Apparition – In Ruins (single)

As the debut single from The Apparition’s upcoming EP “Glass Eyes”, “In Ruins” is what the band said that they “created this EP to show what we have been working and the direction of the band and for bigger things to come.” That’s as good a reason as any for me! And this new EP is shaping up to be a good one judging from how “In Ruins” is (here’s a secret : it’s pretty fucking good). The single is definitely a combination of death metal and thrash metal with the vocals having a deep tone to them and everything else being fast paced … Continue reading The Apparition – In Ruins (single)

The Vicious Head Society – Abject Tomorrow (single)

As Vicious Head Society’s single from (what I’ve gathered) their debut album that is coming sometime early 2015 so we got some time to imagine what it’ll be like. The album’s name hasn’t even been announced yet so all we have is this single, “Abject Tomorrow”, to guess at what it’ll be like. And right now it’s looking to be pretty damn good. The single itself is over 8 minutes long so maybe this’ll be an album for those of you who can’t get enough of the really long songs. “Abject Tomorrow” also has a certain smooth sound to it … Continue reading The Vicious Head Society – Abject Tomorrow (single)

Consumption – Induction (single)

Much as Consumption’s last album “Incredulous Dillusions” their new single “Induction” is very raw and absolutely on the harsher end of death/metal-core music by far. Thankfully, the YouTube video for this is a lyric video so you can keep up with the song because you’d be hard pressed to even know what the vocalist is saying most of the time. Everything about the single is fast paced straight from the beginning and I’ve no doubt hardcore fans of the band will absolutely love it. I also know that there will also be a lot of people bitching about the style … Continue reading Consumption – Induction (single)

The Haunted – Cutting Teeth (single)

The latest single from The Haunted’s upcoming album “Exit Wounds” is hardcore right from the start. The song wastes no time in relying on a slow build up to an explosion of metal because the explosion happens at the very beginning. And everything is very well done, too. The vocals have an unrelentingly fast pace to them along with the harsh guitars that don’t let up no matter what part of the song they’re at because every moment should be filled with constant metal as it is. And the drums have a fantastic beat to them that are absolutely raw … Continue reading The Haunted – Cutting Teeth (single)

Ashes of Existence – Eviction (single)

“Eviction” is certainly a piece of work. As the single from Ashes of Existence’s debut EP “Declination” it gives us an interesting little preview to the EP. The single was a mix of death metal and metalcore that turned out much better than some other examples I’ve heard before. Sometimes the song leaned more towards metalcore and other times towards death metal but no matter what it still sounded good to me. The vocals had nice variety going from deep to the common metalcore screaming with the band’s own twist on them, of course. The guitars are harsh and yet … Continue reading Ashes of Existence – Eviction (single)

Bury My Bride – Your Paradise (single)

Bury My Bride’s debut single “Your Paradise” is overall an okay song. It’s not terrible but it’s not wondrously amazing in my eyes. It’s pretty rare to get any sort of debut that’ll blow your mind so this wasn’t a disappointment. “Your Paradise” though had nice guitars and drums that had very nice rhythm and sound to them that I’m sure will attract many people to the sound. The vocals in my opinion were a bit off beat with the guitars so it didn’t sound as good as they could’ve been to me. But that’s just me. The entire song … Continue reading Bury My Bride – Your Paradise (single)

Sisyphean Conscience – Claptrap (single)

Apparently this is a Borderlands reference. Never played the Borderlands series but I know enough about it to know who/what Claptrap is and that made me skeptical about this single from Sisyphean Conscience’s upcoming debut album “Malignant Transformation”. For those of you who do know of Claptrap you might understand my skepticism for making a metal song as a reference to him, but this worked out well somehow. I’ll be honest, I never heard anything about Claptrap or Borderlands 1 or 2 in the entire song but maybe that’s because I wasn’t paying enough attention. But besides that one little oversight, the … Continue reading Sisyphean Conscience – Claptrap (single)

Tongue and Cheek – Eighteen Years (single)

I can never stop myself from trying to judge how bands will be based upon their names once I see them. Instinct and human nature, I suppose. But Tongue and Cheek are opposite of what you’d expect if you judge upon names alone. Their single “Eighteen Years” is a fast paced track that keeps the beat going non-stop the whole time and never allows your attention to wander anywhere except towards the music and its sound. The guitars and drums had an excellent combination because together they sound amazing, but still great when they’re done alone. It’s always nice when … Continue reading Tongue and Cheek – Eighteen Years (single)

Worth – Dead Mind (single)

Okay, I’ll be honest. “Dead Mind” isn’t what some people would call a “single” because it’s not an official “single” because it’s simply the first song made and released by Worth at the moment. But I’m not some people so I’m gonna call it a single because fuck it. And before I get any farther let me just say that Worth is an all girl band. Nothing super amazing about that but not many people realize the amount of girls that play a role in the music industry when it comes to actually making and performing music. Just let that … Continue reading Worth – Dead Mind (single)
