Nuclear – Formula for Anarchy

This is by far one of the most violent and impressive thrash albums that I’ve heard all year. Nuclear have so far been busting out an album albums every year since 2006, and now they’re back with their newest full length of chaotic thrash metal. “Formula for Anarchy” is exactly what it sounds like: an amalgamation of old school thrash metal, new school thrash, a tinge of old school death metal, and some hardcore-punk for good measure that tears down every sort of barrier it could possibly have with its destructive sound being just what any and all thrash fans need … Continue reading Nuclear – Formula for Anarchy

Abraxxas – The Killing Fields (single)

With thrash metal, everything that could possibility be thought of has already been done a thousand times over, so nowadays you can only hope for a band that has a refreshing sound while still keeping that same feel that thrash metal fans know inside and out every day of the week, and Abraxxas is one such band with their new single, “The Killing Fields”. The song is much as you would expect from a thrash band, but what really made it stand out for me was the vocals because while they aren’t all that unique, they do have a underlying melodic element … Continue reading Abraxxas – The Killing Fields (single)

Iron Maiden – The Books of Souls

Out of all the big metal bands of way back when, Iron Maiden is easily my second favorite right behind Metallica, but they’re newest album, “The Book of Souls”, may just be my new favorite Maiden album by a long shot. If you were scared that Iron Maiden was going to veer off the course they’ve been paving down since album one, you have nothing to worry about because “The Book of Souls” only goes further down that road and it has a fantastic sound and a classic feel all the while with at the same time having some modern … Continue reading Iron Maiden – The Books of Souls

Slayer – Cast the First Stone (single)

I was gonna wait until the actual release of “Repentless” to actually check out anything about Slayer’s new thing, but I couldn’t resist anymore when they put out “Cast the First Stone” and decided to check out what the fuck this album will sound like when it drops. And just based upon this song, “Cast the First Stone” has brought my hopes up a little bit in terms of excitement for “Repentless”. Even though I’ll fully admit that I’m more of a Metallica guy and have never really been into Slayer as other people, I have checked out my fair share … Continue reading Slayer – Cast the First Stone (single)
